It's time to look forward to the next year. As good as 2025 was I think 2026 will be even better. While 2025 was very strong on the indie front, I think 2026 has so much more potential for the bigger AAA titles. There's already so many announced games that I know my wallet will be hurting again. Really curious what other posters are going to be playing next year. Thought this would be a good place where we can all share the games we are looking forward to.

I'll list my top 5 even thought there are way more that I plan to buy.

5 - Loulan: The Cursed Sand

4 - Pragmata

3 - Phantom Blade Zero

2 - Saros

1 - Nioh 3

I had a really hard time deciding just 5 games. Others I am looking forward to are Tides of Annihilation, Wolverine, Reanimal, Onimusha and Resident Evil 9. Ultimately decided on Nioh 3 as my most anticipated game because I put a bunch of hours into the beta and I love the first two. It's a safe choice but one that I know I'll dump many hours into.

Your OP picks pretty much crush it.

The one title launching in 2026 I wanted to be excited over was GreedFall II but not only did Spiders team suffer recent layoffs, they unnecessarily redid so much of the original (basically changing genres) on top of it playing intuitively and max crap from what’s been gleaned in EA that I now have it under hard avoid.

GTA6 (especially the eventual Jacksonville DLC)
The Wolverine game made by the Spiderman studio
...and still holding out hope for Half Life 3. :(

Great thread, and thanks for sharing trailers.

I'm interested in the 007 game from IO, love the Hitman games, but I'm curious if they can make a bombastic action game.

I'm also interested in Code Vein 2. I loved the art style, lore, and combat of the first game, but the level design was abysmal. I like that this is taking place in the past, before the Apocalypse, so if they can make the world design as cool as the lore, it could be awesome.

#5. The Tomb Raider Atlantis remake. It's nice to see sexy/graceful Lara back. With Flying Wild Hog doing the development, I expect them to be faithful. Hopefully its a banger and they remake all the OG's. Crystal Dynamics lost my trust, so I'm leary of Catalyst. I'm down for milf Lara, could make for some fresh stoylines, but Shadow of the Tomb Raider was a slog.

Lara's ballistic missiles could be larger, but she looks the best she has in a while, while showcases her acrobatic skills once again.

#4. Nioh 3. Little needs to be said here. Give me my crack!!

Trailer already shown, so no need.

#3. Total War 40k and DOW 4. I'm going to put them together. Despite having different mechanics, they're going to share a lot at the core in RTS battles. It sounds like they're giving us new strategies/enhancements in battles, namely terrain deformation and one on one epic encounters. I love RTS games, but combat hasn't evolved much in the genre.

Having the Lion in DOW 4 as a playable Primarch is so cool, even if it's going to be limited. His story could be canon too, and they look to lean heavily on the narrative. Games Workshop needs to advance the timeline more, so hopefully both games, along with Cavill's live adaption does that while synergizing.

I love 40k more for the stories, characters and deep lore, so DOW is more anticipated, especially with the Dark Angels involved, it gets the trailer.

#2. Dark Heresy, 40k. Another potential 40k RPG banger from Owlcat. Rogue Trader wasn't perfect, but it was still incredible to me, also getting more DLC this year. Dark Heresy has you playing as an Inquistor, essentially a space detective. I know very little about it still, but Owlcat has my trust.

#1. The Expanse, Osiris Reborn. Another Owlcat game. I predict that this will be their DAO/Mass Effect arrival, and cementing their place among the goats like OG Bioware, and current Larian/CDPR.

It's really important that both of their upcoming games are fully voiced. With the Expanse being a 3rd person venture, they can really bring the world to life. It's such an untapped IP, ripe for an RPG like ME, can't wait!

It's going to be expensive year lol, but at least I got my GPU upgrade out of the way!

I was an Onimusha fan in the PS2 days so I'm definitely interested in this new game.
Phantom Blade Zero looks really cool as well.

I forgot about RE9, really excited about that too!

I keep getting that Expanse game mixed up with Exodus. Have you seen this trailer? I kept thinking they were the same game for a long time. Thanks for bringing this to my attention so I know that there's actually two big sci-fi games being worked on. Feels like devs were thinking "man there hasn't been a mass effect game in a long time and I bet there's an audience out there that's hungry" and then boom two big games like mass effect dropping perhaps within months of each other.

My bank account will really hate next year lmao.
1) Wolverine
2) Nioh 3
3) Tides of Annihilation
4) Pragmata
5) Phantom Blade Zero

AND Tomb Raider remake/reboot, possible Starfield 2.0 (have low expectations, though), Loulan - looks sick and Saros. I am happy the Switch 2 isn't scheduled to have a big 2026.

The expanse, Wolverine, and Soros.
Excited for Trails Remake Part 2? Saw you enjoyed the first one released this year. It's currently on sale but I think I'm going to hold off.

Trails in the Sky Part 2 is arguably the best game in the series (I won't argue that, but a lot do). So I am pumped for it. And the Trails into the Horizon on a month. I played the Japanese with fan subs, and it was great. Looking forward to an official release.

I am a simple man sometimes.

Not 100% sure it will release in 2026 or not, but provided it does then 100% I’m most excited for Duskbloods. Will wait till it releases to pick up a Switch 2.

Other than that, if it actually really is secretly in development then I’d say Half-Life 3.

I think there's a good chance that I'll just never play that series because I can't really do slow burns anymore. Also the fact that there's like over a dozen games and story is not even complete scares the crap out of me. For one it would take so much time to finish over a dozen 50 hour RPGs and second I worry that there won't be a good payoff with a story going that long. I'm definitely more of an Ys guy. Each one is stand alone which means you can play out of order and there's way less dialogue which means you get to the action a lot faster in them. I can't do the whole talk for 3 hours in a row and barely play thing. My gaming sessions are only one hour at a time now.

Very excited for it but hard to be hyped when I know the story. If it wasn’t for that it would be #1.

There is beyond the horizon releasing in January though which I’m very hyped for and forgot to add.

So I take it this means the remakes are very faithful? Do you have more hype for Final Fantasy Remake part 3? They’ve made many changes , so much so that I actually look forward to it more than anything else at the moment. Going to be bittersweet when it finally releases hopefully in 2027. On one hand super hyped to see how it all ends but on the other it will feel weird not having more to look forward to. Exactly why I’m hoping we get news of a FFIX remake although with that I do hope it’s just one big game if they make it
