planning on spending 3 months in thailand..going to check out TMT first MMA & Muay Thai training in Thailand - Welcome to MMA Phuket - Muay Thai, MMA, Boxing, BJJ, Nogi Grappling and Strength & Conditioning training in Thailand.

pretty stoked. has anyone been? i know fitch, swick, some of the guys on the new ultimate fighter, and a bunch of others have been there.
seems like a lot of people in the mma community have been.

just seeing if anyone has been or heard anything about them?ive been tryin to go since 06, now they have it all decked out. cant wait.

if anyone has any experiences in thailand, then id be interested in hearing about them.

thanks for your time

ive been getting mixed reviews. im not going for a fun time by the beach

Never pay for more than a week of training at a Thai camp up front. Make sure you like the training environment before you commit, there will be no refunds...

A guy just posted that he has been at Tiger MT for a few days and has not hit pads at all. That is a very bad sign.

^^^ Thats solid advise right there. I just left Fairtex where I got 5 rounds of pads every session no matter what!

Tiger charged my friend for toilet paper. He didn't know how to use the hose..

I am heading over to Phuket in 2 weeks and was planning on spending my time training at tiger. If not Tiger what is another solid place to try out? I've heard Rawaii is good, can anyone comment on that?

^^ I met 3 girls from the states who left Fairtex to go to Rawai. After 1 day they left and went back to Fairtex. They said Rawai was terrible and just a fat camp for girls.

I've heard good things about Sinbi and Patong boxing gym but have no personal experience with either.

i've trained in several camps all over thailand including tiger muay thai in phuket.
tiger is by far the most expensive and busiest, and it does seem like making $ is one of their top priorities.
they do have an MMA cage and they do have good trainers. but honestly, it's very hard hard to find a muay thai gym without good trainers in thailand

if you wanna come to thailand to train muay thai, go anywhere that will give you personal attention. if you want to train MMA, then why are you coming to thailand?

I spend my summers at sinbi in Phuket. I can not recommend them enough! You will get at least 5 rounds of technique instructuon on the pads every session. Then a trainer will be over at the bags for the next 5 rounds providing feedback. You will do a few bag drills for endurance, then clinch for 20-30 minutes.

Sing, the owner, limits the number of students and cans any trainers who are lazy.

Ryukyu Damashi you have just convinced me to try out Sinbi first.

I'm only bringing my mouth gaurd and jock with me, where is the best place to get great down there?

Your best bet is going to the boon shop in Bangkok. You can also go to the King shop near Lumpinee.

They have all the gear at the camp for you to use. They have a small shop, but you will get better prices at Boon.

PM me if you need directions.

I also vote for Sinbi, Tiger rubbed me the wrong way. Plus Boo Yung(sp?) has beat up several Tiger trainers including the head one. I stay with Roger at the Palm Garden. If you want MMA stay in the states, Thailand is for Muay Thai.

Woo Young is still there? Im still trying to figure a way to sneak over to thailand this summer, I miss it. Pot's kid kept me laughing. Ryu do you know the techno sounding song that kept saying "like a thimble" they would play?

Woo is still there.

I'll there in July/August.

The only song I remember is "It's raining Men"

Christ, they shouldn't play that song when we are clinching...

Boon sport is definitely a good bargain. Talk to Scott when you go there. I spent over 8000baht there and got a boatload of equipment. I also went ot the stores at Lumpini. I bought a pair of King bag gloves and I'm really not impressed with them at all. the hook and loop strap barely holds now and they're brand new. I don't think they're gonna last. Fairtex definitley makes the best training gloves. The Boon bag gloves are nice but they didnt have them in my size. The stores don't stock as much as you may think.

I dont think wooyoung is still there. I was there last month and he said he was leaving before March.

Heres a good thread about tiger with some negatives and positives
