Presumably he wants a sport Sambo champion under the One grappling rules, since that's where he's competing right now. Apparently Kade Ruotolo is already set up to do the same thing.

Maybe they hope to lure some Sambo guys with one fc money?

BJJ rules, Musumeci wins. Sambo rules, the Sambo champion wins. Not sure what he's trying to prove, really. Unless he is suggesting some kind of vale tudo situation, it's just going to go to whomever the ruleset favours.

My impression was he would of course want it under his ruleset.

I think the ruleset would just be any one of the no gi submission rulesets. Probably ADCC as that has a few elements closer to wrestling than BJJ in its interpretations.

Or just One where the judges make a call after catches (from what I gathered in the one viewing I had of Mikey's matcher vs Cleber Sousa)

Would be shocked if one picked the adcc ruleset. Adcc stupid decision to not score takedowns to turtle would make it hard for a takedown artist.

I'm not sure what this proves, except Kade will be better at no-gi BJJ than Kurzhev.

If the rulesets are such that they force engagement on the feet, then that's one thing. But if they are such that you can get away with essentially dismissing takedowns and throws, then yeah, it doesn't prove a whole lot.

Well that may depend on Kade's approach. If he goes out and takes the to Uali on the feet, or even wrestles up, and wins it would be pretty impressive, regardless of the actual rules. I could see someone like Kade looking to prove a point rather than just taking the easiest path to victory.

Sport sambo definitely has some very, very high level grappling, albeit under different conditions than most no-gi BJJ.

What ruleset?

It's so dumb whenever there's stuff like "MMA fighter vs. Boxer!" and then it's in a boxer's domain or whatever.

Don't make someone compete in your sport and then promote it as a cross thing.

At least make it interesting, like:
-Sambo match
then
-BJJ match

And see who dominates who better in their respective domain.

My guess is that BJJ guys don't dominate non-BJJ guys as well wrestlers dominate non-wrestlers or sambo guys dominate non-sambo guys in their own sports.

Like, a BJJ guy can actually struggle against a wrestler or a sambo guy in BJJ whereas a wrestler or a sambo guy will toss the BJJ guy with ease in their own sports.

Sport sambo definitely has some very, very high level grappling, albeit under different conditions than most no-gi BJJ.

Sport sambo grappling is way too limited since it doesnt have chokes and very little guard play since one can win by pin.

Good luck dealing with a bjj wizard while having little experience with guard and chokes.
