Has there ever been a contender vs champion fight where the contender was so heavily favored to win?

Everybody and their mothers knew that Romero was going to punch a hole through Bisping's skull.

I think Bisping should thank GSP for saving him from Romero. What a mismatch it would have been.

What do you guys think?

Do you think there could have been another outcome other than Bisping leaving in a stretcher?

Romero would have stiffened Bisping in the 1st round. It was smart of Mike to duck him

Yoel by 1 punch ko less than 2 minutes.

One of the most cowardly displays ever in the UFC.

Opted to fight 50 year old 3-6 Hendo and retired WW GSP in order to avoid fighting a REAL contender in the once stacked MW division.

I’m no fan of GSP but I appreciate him purging that British DUCK from the UFC.

No.

This was the biggest ducking in ufc history imo. I loved it when Bisping tooled Rockhold but lost all respect for him when he so blatantly ducked Romero. Romero would have put Bisping in a coma and Bisping knew it.

Prime Bisping would have taken him to a decision, easily.

If I was Bisping i'd probably be shitting my pants too. Yoel is legit scary here lol

Gsp vs Serra

They're both 2-2 in the last 4. Pretty even fight, says stats/science. You might even say Bisping got a slight advantage, as Romero's last fight before the 2-2 was a split decision vs gatekeeper Jacare, and Bisping's was a clear win vs GOAT candidate Anderson.

Science says: Advantage Bisping.

That was prime Bisping.

Or at least Bisping at the highest point of his fighting career.

No version of Bisping takes Romero to a decision lol

Would have looked like Hendo/Bisping 1 but a bit darker.

What about GSP versus Romero...? How does that fight go?

This whole saga was a dark time in UFC.

Bisping began his ducking immediately and finally took a fight with 100 year old Hendo which he arguably lost
Bisping was 'injured' and couldn't fight any contenders
GSP became an option and Bisping was good to go.
GSP pulled out due to an eye infection or something and Bisping became injured again.
Romero v Whittaker was forced to happen for what people considered to be the true MW title.
Bisping v Whittaker was expected to happen and I definitely remember Dana saying that GSP was going to take on Woodley/go back to the welterweight division.
GSP desperate not to lose his cherry picked champion became available again and Bisping's injuries disappear. Whittaker also mysteriously gets an injury allowing Bisping to avoid fighting the interim-champion.
GSP v Bisping happens in which GSP triumphs in what was actually a pretty close fight for him. GSP fanboys rejoice at their hero winning 'two' titles and GSP proceeds to fuck the UFC and Dana going back on his promises to defend against a legitimate MW.
