He was not only the best fighter on that season,he had a personality that in the beggining made him very likable. When he got the nod against Hammil people were really upset at him(not his fault) and in true Bisping fashion he rolled with this punches and let out his antagonistic side. He headlined many events, and was a ratings draw in how he would hype fights. Had a late career surge that saw him defeat Anderson Silva, and avenge his losses to Rockhold for the title, and Dan Henderson. Now hes got his job as a commentator,so youll never be rid of the guy! He also has a beautiful family.

Kudos to Michael the Count Bisping for takin the ball and fuckin running with it man. He may have lost an eye to do it,but it was a worthy trade!

I used to really dislike Mike. He came off as a smug prick and not the funny kind either. He was just a bratty, obtuse, big demented child on his season with Henderson. I reveled in replays of the H-Bomb.

Then I eventually saw how tough he was in his fights. I saw how funny he was and how his humor had matured a bit on his second stint as a coach on his season with Miller. I started to respect him somewhat and he didn't bother me.

However, the turning point was his winning fights with that compromised eye, culminating in that win over Rockhold, my appreciation for him jumping ten fold in that post fight press conference where he single handedly created Rocksalt. That presser is a gem. It's hilarious.

Currently, Mike is a solid commentator with a good sense of humor. I like Mike. He's one of the few guys who you've seen evolve as a human being throughout his MMA career under the spotlight. I'm glad he won a title. Respect on Bisping's name.

"BUDDEH!".

Im glad he was able to go through all that, and I was able to see the whole thing unfold, and at the end of it,it was all worth it and he is a happy man.

Diego disagrees. He's an OG. Longevity and loss of brain cells have to count. Plus his vision is better.

To this day when someone mentions MMA robberies the Bisping/Hamill fight is the first to come to mind every time. What a fuckin joke that was. As you said though, not Ping's fault.

Hamill was the better fighter on the show. He got hurt so Bisping won the season. When they fought in England Hamill won but the hometown judges gave it to Bisping. Even the English crowd booed the decision. The late surge was a great story but lets keep history intact. Hamill is still the only one to beat Jon Jones. War Hamill!

Exactly. He doesn't judge his own fights. Hamill was robbed. I met him once. He was a nice fellow.

Nailed it. He’s a living legend!

His image has indeed changed a lot of the years. People now act like he was always popular among the fans and that it wasn't that surprising that he became the champ, but for a long time he was seen as a glorified gatekeeper who the UFC pushed by default, because they didn't have any better British fighter to promote. You couldn't say anything about him without getting a bunch of H-bomb gifs, just like in any Ronda thread which is pretty telling about how much he was disliked. I was in that crowd too, but it was so awesome to see him finally put all the pieces together and getting the belt so late in his career.

You forget his very successful and entertaining podcast with Luis J Gomez!

He got robbed against Chael, too, and I had him winning against Rashad, IIRC.

I thought he beat chael but i dont remember feeling that in the rashad fight. I only did watch it when it was live and thats it tho.

Yeah, my memory of the Shad fight is really fuzzy too. Haven't watched it since I saw it live, either. But still remember thinking Bisping should have won. Wasn't an outrage or anything though.

It wasnt a great fight to watch, and it was the one that made Bisping move down to MW permanently.

Which realistically suited him much better than LHW, but still shows he did really well at LHW too, especially for someone that's supposed to be pillowfisted.

He isnt anywhere near as successful as Bisping.
Success is fleeting. Longevity is the name of the game. Ask grampa Vitor. Fight forever, and your legend will never die.

Fuck vitor, the only thing that wont die is my memory of him needing a emotional support dog after they took all his medicine away
