Obviously Mexicans have a long and storied history in the world of boxing. Fighters who grow up with nothing, and bypassing any kind of amateur career,so they can start making money right away. The toughness and willigness to throw down because they want a better life for themselves,and/or dont want to go back to where they started.

Its really cool to see more and more MMA fighters actually coming from Mexico. As a longtime MMA fan,it is thrilling for me to see fighters from there choose MMA over boxing, because they want to compete in this sport, and are willing to train in various arts, and flout traditional convention.

What's everyone's thoughts on Mexican MMA? While the intention here,is to focus on fighters born and raised in Mexico,I dont mind people talking about chicanos in here. Because I can think of nothing more boring than debating someone's mexican-ness and derail the thread. Mods can start cracking heads if that's the case. Unless its well thought out, I will completley ignore such things, myself.

I love Joel Alvarez,
Moreno is pretty good
Yair is pretty good
Aldana is pretty good,

I'd say Mexico is doing pretty good, I guess. If you think about it, outside power houses Russia, Brazil, and USA, they are doing as good as any.

Moreno might prove to be better than pretty good. Id like to see where he goes from what is probably going to be another win over the Notorious Figgy Smalls. Figgy probably cant keep making that cut.

Yair impressed the shit out of me against Max.

I consider Moreno maybe a little bit better than Yair, Moreno will have to go on a run for me to consider him better than pretty good, which is pretty good to be considered pretty good, but it could be that Yair is in much, much competitive division as well.

I see Grasso, Aldana, Yair, Moreno, all in pretty good category, but that's me.

Joel Alvarez is someone I've loved for a while now, but he's in a weight class that's most stacked so I don't think he can make a run. I'd imagine LW is three times more stacked than FLW, not to take anything away from Moreno.

Fun fact: Yair's cousin Misael is an Olympic bronze medalist in boxing and undefeated currently as a pro

That pic with Yair and Max is so good to see. Yes this sport cannot exist without a certain level of animosity, but those are some feel good moments right there when these two dudes bust each other up,and when its all said and done got nothing left in them but R E S P E C T.

Joel Alvarez is from fucking Europe. I mean, holy shit am I psyched for him vs Tsarukyan but forget country, thats the wrong continent.

Moreno is fucking awesome.

I think Latin America is going to need some time and a breakout star before it makes big waves let alone just Mexico. But the UFC ignores Central Asia, Thailand, East Asia etc so for smaller divisions they really want the Latin and Mexican markets to thrive.

In Mexico most people don't even know who Brandon Moreno is. Everyone knows who Canelo is.
