Possibly the most underrated modern day game series imo. The series deserves way more recognition than it gets but I think they definitely have a weakness in advertising.
I honestly think Exodus is going to be my GOTY aside from any potential Sony published exclusives that release later in the year. I'm digging RDR2 but fact is I bought it on launch day and I'm only halfway through. It's very slow to the point where it feels like a chore to play for more than a couple of hours.
I've also been replaying the first two games and I have to say, I initially thought Last Light was better than the original in every way but now that I have played them in reverse, I actually think Metro 2033 has a much better story and better levels. The first half of Last Light was amazing, but I thought the second half was rather drawn out and less engaging.
I'm finding that Metro 2033 is the opposite. The game world actually gets better as the game goes on.
And just for fun, here are some of my best screenshots... The lighting and particle effects are still soo good.
