I wish it was a no gi match. Keenan is way more entertaining when fighting no gi.

I think Xande was right about no one being able to beat him when he is at his best apart from Roger in his prime and if it is in the gi.

I'm just happy to hear Keenan talk about how lower belts should be allowed to ask higher belts to roll, with the common sense assumption the higher belt has ultimate say so. This is how it works in wrestling and not being allowed to do this at my gym is annoying

I checked the site and now is Barnett vs Ryron Gracie. That really looks like a mismatch competition.

so xande, in his entire career, only had his guard passed at that event? because that's insane. i mean even if roger passed it again at some other point, it's still insane.

Too bad. Ryron weigh like 190 in the Galvao match, he's none of a heavy guy. Imagine how overweigh would be Barnett against him... Not less then 60 pounds advantage.

Yeah, the odds are stacked against Ryron here. But I have seen Murilo Bustamante make a world-class wrestler in Tom Erikson with an 80+ pound weight advantage stand up and refuse to wrestle after 20 minutes of failing to make anything happen, too. Crazy shit can happen sometimes.

Erikson was also significantly less well versed in submission grappling than Barnett though haha

Sure, shit happens sometimes but remember that Barnett submit Lister for the first time.

I think either Xande doesn't remember getting his guard passed more or he considers that if he turtles then his guard isn't passed because Rodolfo beat him 6-0 at one of the Copa Podio events (I didn't see the fight personally) so that must have been a takedown/sweep and then he got the back at some point.

Technically your guard isn't passed if you turtle. Its why a lot of people turtle in competition.
