Will this be the first time someone has defended an interim belt in the UFC I can't remember this happening and how come they didn't strip Cruz of his belt they did it to Mir when he couldn't defend his

Big Nog defended the interim belt against Mir at ufc 92

Oh that's right I forgot but with Cruz out it will be almost two years without him defending a belt

Doctors told Mir that they didn't know if he would walk again. Cruz just needs surgery. There is a big difference but it is a legitimate question for people to be asking.
