Great job by ref but it's always funny how often a guy when hit with an illegal shot that gets acknowledged by the ref starts rolling around like he's been shot with a rifle or something. Not saying the elbows didn't suck but you see that type of reaction all the time lol.

True thing for sure.

Those were some illegal elbows though so I understand his reaction, although it ain’t “BMF”

It's tough to tell from angle of the replay, but it does look like the first one goes to the area on the back of the head/neck.

What's strange is most refs almost always let you hit them once in the back of the head and then yell out "back of the head" as you are doing it so you adjust your strikes.

That's how you know they are playing it up to maximize recovery time and possibly play it up for the DQ.

Not saying those shots don't hurt like hell or deserve a DQ, but it's just so frequently that we see fighter immediately attempt to comically oversell the amount of pain they are in to justify a DQ.

Damn, that was refreshing. That's how I want referees to act, enforcing the rules, and using the authority they are granted. Big props to him.

Tired of refs talking to fighters as if they were scared to hurt them with their words, gently removing their hand from the cage 3 times in a row, fighters complaining "you are lying, I never hit him in the back of the head, YOU ARE TEARING ME APART HERB !!"

Fighter get hit with the biggest shot of their career - keeps fighting.

Fighter gets hit with any type of illegal strike - might as well have been shot.

Didn't look like back of the head at all to me, it's hard to tell from that angle.

Yeah I honestly need a better angle and maybe a slow mo bc it looks to the side of the head tbh but the ref obviously had the best angle

/Thread. Its always funny how the foul victim usually acts hurt WAY longer or worst than the fighters that actually get KTFO, those guys are walking on their own out of the cage in half the time.

PS: Not their fault tho, but still...

very good job those where very clear and intentional too if the fight continued hope goddard took 2 points for this

This. From the angle I could believe he wasn't hitting the side of the head, especially with the angle he was throwing the elbow it was evident he was trying to get the side. But it wasn't clear either way imho from that angle.

Also, though -- is it the posterior head/neck area or behind the ears? I don't actually remember anymore.

It didn't look like major impact either, I know I can't tell you what did hurt but I can have a great idea based on the force and impact how much it damaged.
