Fighter Analysis

Matt Manzanares

Matt Manzanares is a really good striker. He is very patient in his timing and is usually the quicker striker when exchanging. Additionally, he has good powerful kicks and is patient in his approach. He doesn't come in like a ball of fire, instead he is tactical in picking his spots. One of the holes in Manzanares game is he sometimes has trouble staying on his feet. He has been able to be taken down by good wrestlers and although he has submissions from his back, if the opponent has good top control they can nullify Manzanares submission attempts. Manzanares has good stamina and his last 2 fights all went the full 5 rounds. This may play into his advantage if the fight goes into the championship roumds.

Alexander Pantoja

Alexander is a Brazilian striker and he has shown that his preference is to keep the fight on the feet. He is aggressive in his approach bombing big punches at his opponents. At times his striking is sloppy but he does have power to faze and daze his opponent. Furthermore, he likes to implement clinch work and has good knees. That is something that he looks for. Additionally, Pantoja has really good takedown defense to keep the fight standing. He does have some submissions wins, but those usually come after he has knocked his opponent down with strikes and follows to the ground. He has shown a lack of stamina and he does slow in the 3rd round.

Fight Analysis

I believe that Manzanares striking is better than Pantoja, He is more technical and has crisper punches. Couple that with the fact that Pantoja likes to keep the fight standing and hasn't really shown the ability to get a takedown, this should play to the advantage of Matt. This fight is scheduled for five rounds, and I see Pantoja slowing after 2. This will allow Matt to land and land repeatedly and get a decision victory. I believe the line will come out at -200-250 for Manzanares.

What you guys think about this fight? I got in at +120.

Your analysis was spot on. I also got in on Manzanares at +120 and even though Matt won round one for sure, we both lost unfortunately.
