Manny Pacquiao vs. Canelo Alvarez at 154 in 2013.

Could Pacquiao have beaten the much bigger Canelo at 154? Keep in mind this is Pacquiao after being knocked out cold by Marquez.

it's a matchup issue and they both dont defend the jab super well. I'd probably lean Canelo in 2013 but 09-2011 I think Manny destroys Canelo. Canelo also has issues with anyone with a good jab and good footwork, so, who knows.

i think canelo whoops him because of his size. manny was tiny, even at 147, canelo was a bigass welterweight while he was still there.

and yes, i know pacman beat the piss out of margarito who was also huge, but that prick was cheating for god knows how long. he wasn't the destroyer the world thought he was.

Pacquiao's peak was when he KO'd Hatton at 140 lbs in 2009.
Canelo's peak was his second fight with GGG at 160 lbs in 2018.
154 lbs is closer to Canelo's peak weight, but 2013 is closer to Pacquiao's peak era.
Having said that, I think Canelo would just be too big for him. Margarito is the the heaviest opponent Pacquio's fought, and he only weighed 150 lbs.

Manny's said himself that 154 was too big for him and that Margarito was really hurting him when we was able to touch him. Canelo's quite a bit faster, more accurate and throws better combinations than Margarito (not to mention the asterisk next to Tony's name). All things being equal, Manny would eat him alive. I think the size would be very difficult for Pacquiao to overcome.

Canelo was already one of the best counter punchers in boxing in 2013 and his durability would allow him to take chances in exchanges with Pac. Pac doesn't pose the same kinds of problems that Mayweather posed. Pac's speed would still cause some issues, but I don't think I'd favour him in this matchup.

Manny wouldn't take that fight. He lost something vs Margarito, even though he beat the crap out of him. Why would he fight another similar sized guy?

Canelo runs through Manny like he did against Lopez and very gifted smart boxer beats Canelo Floyd everyone else gets stopped.

Canelo can box counter punch and fight Mexican style he's dangerous and has chavez type boxing power and body attacks.

I don't like that fight and everyone knows why Roach and Bob avoided that fight.
