well this is a dream match but i hate for one of them t lose i think ben will pull it off though
 
Love it. Maia is coming off a win though. But I can see them booking this regardless.

It's a super cool fight for Maia. It's good for his legacy and he doesn't have to worry about getting ko'ed for a pay check. A lot better for his legacy then beating some scrub.

It seems like something that will end up as a grappling fight. I don't see Maia being able to keep it standing and I doubt Ben would want to.
Also seems like a good choice for Askren in terms of preventing brain trauma.
 
im surprised most of you see maia easily winning this they are my 2 fav guys at 170 right now but i think bens just to crazy with his transitions dont see maia able to control him i feel he can for 1 round by back packing possibly
 
wish this was done a few years ago. Maia will be 42 in November and seems like at this point he doesn't have much cardio after 2 rounds (at least enough to really implement his game). but i'm intrigued to see it

I don't see it as an easy fight, I think Askren will have the edge there.
It's a good opportunity for Maia to show some good grappling.
 
Man, my favorite type of fight in MMA is grappler vs grappler . Maia and Shields , Shields and Palhares , and now I want to see Askren/Hall/Maia/Kron mix it up too

mhm i just feel ben ask the edge he knows exactly what maia does try to get to the back win by rnc or back points maia doesnt wrestle to the level ben does and i dont think will understand the things bens trying t do to get on top i dont see maia able to stop ben from crazy transitions to end up on time

jake beat maia so i think ben will be able to as well although ben could fuck up do something to funky and get caught too deep ben needs this win big i hope he gets it tbh although i hate seeing maia lose ben needs it to stay at the top
 
I'm really curious to see how it will play out. Askren is most likely gonna get the takedown but I wonder to what extent will he follow Maia to the ground.. for how much he might want to avoid play stand up, scrambling with Maia while subs are involved is crazy dangerous.

yeah but hes a legit animal and everyone who trains with him says the same thing that nothing seems to work on him hes just so strong and does things to shut down what you do

It can of course be that he shuts down Maia, after all he does have a better gas tank and he certainly doesn't lack pressure, however he never fought somebody like him in his whole career, so it's all to see I guess

Playing catch and release with takedowns seems a lot more risky then playing from top. Maia has effective wrestling it's not like his going to get slammed on his face all day long and Ben has good BJJ too.

well thing about fighting a jj guy is u can easily replicate that i the gym style wise it isnt like maia throws big bombs that its hard for his camp to emulate. bens trained with the very best bjj guys on the planet.

im sure he gonna bring in a top guy to work him. all ben has t do is stay on top t win. tbh thats easy for ben to do. i see him maybe fucking up one round but him scrambling out also bens gnp is amazing i could see him finishing maia in later rounds

Re throws big.bombs isn't a striker who just has less power a good emulation? Getting ko'ed is not really the thing you want to replicate during your camp right?
But a big advantage of Ben is that he knows how to emulate Maia (he was even playing Maias during Woodleys camp) but Maia can't emulate Askren.

good god i hope not lol i could see maia tyring this but skren will charge him and will get it tot he ground it takes 2 to tango ben isnt gonna do this hes gonna run right at maia knowing maia cant really hurt him on the feat
