This is the greatest pro wrestling match of all time: Starrcade '85 - Magnum TA vs Tully Blanchard, "I Quit" match in a steel cage for the NWA US Heavyweight Title

Screenshot (36).png

Tom Miller was perfect.
Earl Hebner was perfect.
Baby Doll was perfect.
Bob Caudle and Tony Schiavone were perfect.
Tully Blanchard was perfect.
Magnum T.A. was perfect.
Greensboro was perfect.
The wooden chair was perfect.
The blood was perfect.
The microphone was perfect.

And, for the record, Tully never said "I quit."

Greatest I quit match no doubt. Maybe even the greatest cage match.

Didn't TA say do you quit? And he screamed yes?
No. He was just screaming in pain. Baby Earl screwed Tully out of his title just like he would later screw Hogan and Bret out of theirs. Wouldn't be surprised if Hebner helped Magnum steal Tully's wife as well.

Greatest rasslin match of all time is a pretty big stretch, but I'll say it's better than pretty much anything I've seen in the last few years that took place in a cage. This was direct, brutal, without tons of extra horseshit...what they did made sense...nothing looked over the top contrived or ridiculous...and they understood that not everything needs to go 5 hours. Get in...get brutal...go home.

"Baby Doll was perfect."

I have never seen this match. I will have to watch it this weekend. Hopefully the network has some of the footage before it. I like to know the storyline and stuff to get the most out of a match

Admittedly I am kind of a WWF mark from back in the day. Some of the old NWA and Mid South stuff can be tough to sit through nowadays.

Probably the best old school cage match and one of the best ever.
