Obviously we don't have the ability to see each guys' choice of footwear, but judging from this staredown Weidman seems to have a solid 3-inch height advantage on Machida and an obvious overall size advantage. Also, I just read that Machida has entertained a move down to 170. I believe in Lyoto's skills but in the current era of MMA shouldn't he be fighting at the best weight for his size? I know cutting down a class isn't always the best answer but I would think that at 36 years old Machida should have already cut down to welterweight. I personally believe he has a better chance against Hendricks compared to Weidman anyway and if he loses this fight (which I strongly believe he will) how much longer will it take him to climb the ladder again?

I think that's a bad angle. I think it's somewhere between 1 and 2 inches. Weidman is listed at 6'2 and Machida 6'1 (but I think that's generous for Machida).

I'm 5'10 and Weidman was about 5 inches taller than me when I met him

All this cutting weight bullshit, they should just ban it like PEDs, TRTs and stupid shit like that.

Machida looks to be no taller than 5' 11". Again, 170 just looks to be his more natural size. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he is one of these guys that could benefit from an in-between class (175 lbs). Kind of like Matt Serra or one of the bigger light heavyweights who would be small heavyweights (cruiserweight class).

Machida is like Saku of this age, always fighting bigger guys.

Weidman a bit taller than both Silva and Machida. Although he's billed as being 6'2", Weidman's more like 6'2" 1/2 or 6'3" even.

Looks like a SHW fighting a FLW. Weidman is easily 30lbs heavier and 6 inches taller here

No, but there is an obvious size disparity and considering that Weidman is the caliber of wrestler and athlete that he is the disparity will be compounded that much greater.

Another thread about this shit? Why do people care so much about this???

weidman is surprisingly tall for mdw, he was one of the only guys who stood eye 2 eye with silva, i think hes 6'2 and machida 6'0, he may have cut height for this fight though, not sure
