How impressive was he? Got taken down early but didn’t panic and got to his feet. Then a flying knee KO. His striking is obviously translating well into mma.

who do you guys think he should fight next? I say give him a top 15 guy, if he wins let him fight a real contender. If i was matchmaker, i’d let him fight izzy right now just because of their history. Pride wouldve matched them up and you never know what could happen.
 
Brunson, Vettori, and Hermansson are the 3 grappling gatekeepers of the top 10. It'd be interesting to see if his TDD can hold up against any of them.

Or he can just avoid all of them since none of those guys have anyhing vs. Izzy and just knock out guys like Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa on the way to a title shot via favorable matchups. Maybe throw in someone like Till, Uriah Hall or Brad Tavares before those two as well. Then he can face Izzy again and they can test out their MMA striking vs. each other without killing the dream match up and the most exciting contender this division has seen in years.

Although Alex is 2-0, the first fight was razor close with many thinking Izzy won, and the second Izzy was winning but got countered to hell by a perfect left hook by a guy who has the best left hook in the business, although Alex was sick or had some problems going into this one.

It's very likely that the matchmakers will do this and allow him to avoid those 3. Guys like Till, Strickland, and Costa would be the type of favorable match ups to quickly increase his ranking. I'm aware that his fights with Izzy weren't the blowouts people make them out to be. Alex has crazy power and can change the momentum of the fight in an instant.

They should, there's no poin for him to fight Brunson or Vettori since it's not like grappling will make a difference if Izzy and him fight and they can hype the shit out of that one if both keep winning. It has the potential to be a huge money fight, and you never know how much of a setback a loss would be for him at this point, maybe he loses confidence in MMA like Saki and Spong and just decides to go back to KB. Izzy can take care of Whittaker (who would likely go full NCAA and wrestlefuck Alex as of now as well) and Brunson as contenders while Alex knocks off some strikers like those mentioned.
 
It was a very nice finish, but until he gets more fights in, especially against top 10 people, its too early to rate him accurately.

He knocked out the current MW champ in kickboxing.
 
That was the highlight of the night for me. Really want this guy to do well. Hope he stays within 10 feet of Glover at all times and drills the fuck out of his TDD.

jan dominated him and at no point in that fight was izzy doing anything remotely close to winning

both dominated him but that ko is more final

I dont think any of those 3 are gate keepers at this time. Brunson was there once upon a time but broke out of that. Vettori has plenty of fresh top 5 match ups and just beat the #2 guy. And Jack's only gatekeeper-ish performance was to Vettori. At this point I think we're looking at KG and Till as the keepers to the top 5. Hall and Tavares and maybe Holland as the keepers to the top 10 and 15 respectively. The rest are in title contention (the top 5), on there way up like Strickland and Muniz or in their twilight in Weidman. The only person who I think is still a wild card is Edmen, he has his age working for in his favor with possibly being the future of MW in 5-7 years but he has some developing to do and taking 3 straight losses isnt helping

I didn't mean gatekeepers in the traditional sense. What I meant was that those 3 fighters are the ones to test if your grappling defense is truly up to par for a top level MW. For example, Holland and Till got weeded out due to their poor TDD and inability to get back up. Speaking of Till, I don't think he's is a gatekeeper for the top 5, I don't think he's really a top 10 fighter at MW.
 
The anti izzy looked nice. Needs more wrestling and bjj tho. Will need many more fights
 
This guy is a gem.. They need to keep him away from grapplers.
