After the hype has played down, and after the euphoria of Khabib & Tony has been flushed down the toilet (for the 5th time), let's take a moment to have a real close look at Zhang and Jedrzejczyk.
Arguably the best, most technical, most elite-level female fight that has ever taken place, in any genre, in the world of women's sports.
I have to admit, I didn't like Joanna Jedrzejczyk, at all, prior to this fight.
I was a huge Weili Zhang fan .
Leaving this fight, in retrospect, and after the euphoria has come down, so we can all evaluate with a sober mind, this was simply an incredible effort by both women.
Joanna is a warrior TO THE CORE. Both women are.
I don't think there are many men's fights who can compare, let alone women's.
I agree with the decision that Weili Zhang's retained her title. She was the aggressor in the end, and she was hungrier than Joanna. But Joanna was a Champion also.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk didn't "lose" that match. She lost absolutely nothing in this fight, and in fact she GAINED everything ... including, (I am sure) many additional fans and accolades that she may not have had before. I do believe she was "out pointed," but Joanna was NOT 'outgutted" ... they were BOTH Champions in that department.
I cannot detract from either fighter. They are both absolutely excellent and they both deserve our utmost respect.
I believe Wiley Zhang is the future; and I also believe Joanna Jedrzejczyk exhibited the recipe to unbalance this prediction
