Lethwei and Dave Leduc interview on BE today

https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2019/8/...i-ufc-fight-pass-myanmar-kickboxing-muay-thai

interesting interview

-says he prefers no gloves, and jabs "thumbs up" (vertical fist i guess?)
-he started with "kung fu, Sanshou" not sure what/how he trains exactly now
-is fighting UFC veteran Seth Bascinski today (might've already happened...it's in Myanmar)

"When it comes to training conditions, things are very raw in Myanmar—which also contributes to make them so tough. "

I like this aspect of lethwei. I would be so down to go train barefoot in the dirt with them. I think the primitive training conditions do make people tougher. Surpisingly, not many guys, even fighters, dont want to train in those conditions, they wanted padded mats with AC and what not.

It's a harder / tougher way to train.
Dont think its a more effective or smart way though.

Yeah no shit, anyone with a fucking braincell would want to train in sanitary conditions, not rolling around in the dirty like an animal.

o_O???

more like only spoiled little bitches.

not sure how primitive training methods equates into unsanitary conditions, I dont see anything unsanitary about kicking a banana tree rather than a punching bag. MT/Lethwei you dont roll, so there is no rolling around in the dirt like an animal as you say. The point I was making is that most people are too soft, and only want to train in some luxurious gym with padded matts, air conditioning, and the iphone that tracks their heart rate or some bullshit.

theres nothing unsanitary about this type of training, its just rough raw training, too ruff and rugged for most spoiled foreigners from 1st world countries. This type of training is the true core and backbone of the sport of MT. Its well known that a majority of the thai fighters come from the Isaann region, a poor rural part of thailand. MT training doesnt get any realer or more authentic than this.

anyways peace out bro, have a good one ;)

If you dont think harder and tougher is smarter or more effective for preparing for combat, then you just don't know a whole lot about preparing for combat. Mental conditioning and stress response, as well as emotional stabilization are paramount to not having a fucked up career in fighting, Military, or Policing...doing things softer and easier is definitely less smart and effective.

Yeah, those top level fighters that train at American Top Team, or at the Olympic Training Center are a bunch of "spoiled little bitches." Enjoy playing in the dirt.

In boxing, the U.S. results have been abysmal compared to past times when fighters trained at their own gyms with their own coaches to prepare for Olympics. We were once known for having multiple gold medals per team. We are no longer known for that and haven't been for 20 years or so.

Just sayin'

some credit to politics for this too. We’ve got a young man from a small gym in here Oregon competing in Nationals next week with a hope for qualifying for the Olympic qualifiers. It’s understood though that the Olympic team
Has already been selected so if he wants his shot he has to finish fights because if it goes to the judges he’s getting rail roaded

Sure but theres politics everywhere. For combat purposes, many of who we face are more mature, Military personnel, and just live in more harsh conditions to become fighters.

That Karate student I train, Trinity Allen. Shes world-ranked and when she got a chance to train in Kazakhstan, she was done with it about 3 days in. Bitter cold, they live and train at the top of a mountain, and there were very little amenities. Her Dad made her stick it out.

I like that dad, that was the right move

For bare knuckle fights, David seems to prefer a fist position similar to the one used in mma - "inverted glass :-)" - 1:31.

He used the very same left hook to KO Seth in his last fight:

the headbutt is pretty much functions like a 3rd elbow

boxing and kickboxers would destroy this headbutt martial art imagine holly holm vs headbutt

There's a reason ppl MOVE ON to better quality gyms the further they succeed you dumbfuck you just proved my point. Obviously there's tons of ppl that start with nothing, but as they become more successful they train at better facilities.

and where were they created? from rural thailand, and if they werent willing to train in those raw conditions, they wouldnt have become the cream of the crop. Rural/poor/raw training in thailand is the heart of muay thai, its the core, the back bone of the sport. go pick a keyboard warrior battle with someone else bitch. you so far under my radar i dont even know who the fuck you are, enjoy imagining your a fighter.

Lol someone's triggered. Don't feel bad because you're from a shithole.

You realize it's called the art of 9 limbs? It's MT with more emphasis on boxing both offensively and defensively (because only stoppages stop fights. KO or nothing/draw) and allowing headbutts. It's taking MT to the next level basically.
