Both houses are at the same price of $350,000

I'll go ahead and ask my question here, what caused this huge difference in how far your dollar can go between these areas in the same country?

Here's a house in a predominant conservative neighborhood/city/county, or as we like to be described po-dunk redneck backwoods toothless barefooted hillbillies, Benton, AR

Here's a house in a predominant progressive neighborhood/city/county Los Angeles, CA, where the high class big city folk live

Silly thread. Compare like with like, you aren't even comparing properties in the same state.

It isn't a political issue, land is a finite resource.

Who knew that supply and demand was a left/right thing!?

hahaha I was just thinking this. According to this thread, it appears that land is FAR more valuable in leftist leaning areas.

Supply & demand determines the pricing. There's (probably) more demand for living in the area in which the LA house is located, than the one in AR.
It's not a left vs right issue (I don't even know what that's supposed to mean in this context?).
Obviously a lot of other factors plays into the real-estate market in particular, as recent history has shown us. But I'm not sure that's what you wanted this thread to be about?

so why are people much more crammed together in a progressive county, causing people to pay almost half a million dollars for a dilapidated shack? as far as supply, isn't there an overabundance of houses on the market in LA?

Your username and av are fitting based on this thread.

You've got it back to front. The question should be what is it about rural living that trends towards conservative politics, and living in heavily populated regions that trends towards progressive politics? The answer would be a long one...

My favorite part about this thread is not how badly it turned on the TS, but how it turned on him using basic capitalist principles.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe the reasons why California real estate prices have soared higher than the national average is because of the land restrictions, zoning laws and "smart growth" policies. I.e. Regulations.

Also, in places like San Francisco, rent control, along with the above policies, has created housing shortages in the city.

I remember my family bought a house in Hayward, CA in 2000 for $410,000. During the housing boom, it's value increased somewhere between $500,000 to $600,000. Of course, the value of my home has decreased since.

Rarely have I seen such an ill conceived thread.

I also own the baby swing in the 3rd picture so those people are smarter, taller and better looking.

So is the point that Los Angeles land is so much more valuable than Arkansas land because of liberalism?

Not your best showing, bud. Throw in the towel and try again another day.

talk about shootin yourself in the foot...........

$50k land with a $300k house
vs.
$330k land with a $20k house

of course the LA house is the better investment because land appreciates while houses depreciate.

I see some pretty bad ones on a daily basis (ruthlessrob, I'm looking at you), but this one is a doozy.

wtf? TS your threads are usually pretty crap but I think you've outdone yourself. Can we just post pictures of any random shit now and say "left vs right"?
