Lady purchases Puppy on Craigslist, but it's really a Hyena

These glands produce a white, creamy secretion which is pasted onto grass stalks by everting the rectum. The odour of this secretion is strong, smelling of boiling cheap soap or burning, and can be detected by humans several metres downwind.[

<smellit>
Lots of dogs have those same glands, and you have to ge the vet to drain them. Or you can do it yourself I suppose.

Unrelated, but in college two female friends came across a "lost dog" while driving through a nearby neighborhood, so they called it over and brought it back to campus. They then went on Craigslist to post about the "lost dog", and saw that there was a post with their photos saying "These girls just stole my dog".

The only problem is if they bite once you lose a limb or die. Otherwise they would be fine to have as pets.

Pretty sure they can't be house trained and they are closer to cat family and not the dog family.

But still would be cool to own.

"Although phylogenetically closer to felines and viverrids, hyenas are behaviourally and morphologically similar to canids in several elements due to convergent evolution: both hyenas and canines are non-arboreal, cursorial hunters that catch prey with their teeth rather than claws. "

Yup genetically they are closer to cats' but they act more like a dog pack.

Bro, the article literally explains that she didn't get it on Craigslist and it was just a joke. The hyena belongs to a wildlife center:

A woman who claimed she bought a puppy only to find it was a hyena never expected her joke video to go viral, with millions believing she had truly accidentally adopted a wild animal.

Gabriela spent her summer volunteering at the Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage in Zimbabwe.

While at Chipangali, run by three generations of the Wilson family for 50 years, she got to know tiny hyena cub Atlas.

IIRC, Hyenas have the P4P greatest bite strength of any animal. :cool:

I'm sure a Jaguar has a higher bite force pound for pound, only trouble is there's such a huge variation in weights that you would need to know what the weight of the Jaguar was they recorded the reading from.

You may be right. It was something I read a long time ago.
