Hi there,

Just recently getting back into mma after a layoff (injuries....)

Im living in Bethnal Green - East London

I have looked around and these two gyms seems most appropriate.

Does anyone have any suggestions, experience or advice regarding those gyms, and or other east london Gyms.

KO:
KO Muaythai Gym
(world champions thai boxers)

Diesel:
Diesel Gym - Thai Boxing, MMA and BJJ - Welcome to the Diesel Gyms
(world champion BJJ)

Im looking into good stand-up, wrestling and sub-wrestling.

Thanks for all your input!D

Not been to either but i really like the look of the Diesel gym.

Try both for one week, going to a range of classes, and see what you prefer.

I have no idea if that's anywhere close to where you live in London but I know that Jess Liaudin (former UFC fighter) is giving classes here :

Urban Kings Gym

Peter Irving trains there too, and some of the guys of the rough house go there once in a while.

Both Irving and Liaudin are very slick on the ground, and Liaudin is also very crafty on his feet, he's trained a lot abroad and is very experienced in every area.

Or you could try London Fight Factory. We have a higher number of good white, blues, purples and black belts. We have at least 2 good black belts (one who beat megaton) and the other who is a world champion. There is at the very least 6 black belts (one of which was twice brown belt European champion) overall, not including people like Terere who is training at our gym, Cavaca, Bruno Matias, Igor Silva amongst others who have taught classes. I think its also closer to you (1 stop).

Then again we are mainly a gi and mma gym. We do wrestling (not submission wrestling) on Fridays.

The main submission wrestling classes are in the mma class.

Diesal gym does have Claudio Henrique De Silva. I don't know whether he takes the evening or lunchtime classes but he is also very good. Spars with students and is very technical. He closed his bracket with Yuri Simoaes (whilst Yuri was still with Check Mat) during the European brown belt bracket in the Europeans.

Well if you're training for MMA I'd suggest Diesel. However if you don't mind the tube ride there's London Shootfighters which is one of the few MMA gyms in the UK that trains wrestling and sub-wrestling.

If you specifically want to do no-gi then I would recommend London Shootfighters. They possibly do the most wrestling in London.

I think KO gym is run by Jude Samuels who is very good but I also heard they don't have many bjj classes during the week.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I really like Diesel Gym, but KO is only 5 min walk away... Havn't tried KO's grappling sessions yet. They also have some grecco roman classes there, that has just started..

Both Shoot fighters and Urban kings look very nice, but I am a lazy f.er, so they'll be too far away...

I was down at London fight factory last year for a few sessions, which I enjoyed alot. Very sold BJJ guys over there! But I am looking for an MMA club, especially one with wrestling. Since Im working a full time job (loong hours), I have had to make a decision to let the GI rest for a bit, and focus on more specific MMA stuff.

Does anyone know any pure olympic/freestyle/grecco wrestling clubs here in London?

Thanks

We've got dedicated MMA and wrestling classes at LFF now. Two of our fighters are on the BAMMA show at the weekend.

Some guys I train with go here: LondonTown.com | Kensington Olympic Wrestling Club Notting Hill London

I think they basically just warm up and spar, though, not a lot of instruction for beginners.
