Anyone played this? I only just learned this game existed a short time ago, seeing it on a youtube video.

I'm about 15 hours in.....it seems like the true game actually starts once you get to Rattay. It's difficult for sure, but I think that's the point. You're starting out as a peasant who can't fight, and basically sucks at everything. I'm gradually starting to get the hang of it, and appreciate the depth. They definitely borrowed some concepts from Skyrim, but KCD feels more like a medieval simulator than a game. I haven't done much sword fighting yet; the combat seems a little clunky but from what I keep hearing it becomes really rewarding once you've gotten better at it.

Overall I'm really enjoying it so far. It's probably the most realistic portray of medieval towns/cities that I've ever seen in a game. I also love the artwork/style on the loading screens, etc. The game seems somewhat unpolished, as it comes from a pretty small studio (and likely a small budget) but it's amazing how much content they put into it. Really looking forward to continuing with it.

It is a great game. The combat is fun once you the hang of setting up combos and angles. Think of it as an RPG where skills are advanced though doing the skill not just killing things. Just wait until you get plate and turn into a walking death machine.

I haven't played it but I really should. Someone told me that you become more powerful by actually getting good than you do by "leveling up." I don't know if that's true but the whole Dark Souls element of getting more powerful but also just learning to play better sounds fun. As I understand it the sword combat is very good.

Great game, kinda sorta a Skyrim in Medieval Europe.

I'm not real far into it yet, but it's like a more realistic version of Skyrim. No magic obviously, and you need to eat/sleep etc. You also can't heal yourself mid-combat like you can in Skyrim, which was always kind of cheap, IMO. You shouldn't be able to stop and eat a turkey dinner in the middle of a fight to restore health.

Amazing game, I need to return to it for sure but I loved all of the 20 hours or so that I played it for. I dropped it for a new release, I think RE8 or something. I had to look up one obnoxious mission, and if I have to do that I just get annoyed at the game design. Loved it for the most part.

I love that Harry isnt some OP dude, and you learn as he learns. Harry gets better at the game because youre better at the game etc.

I will say that some of the quest instructions could be better. In one of the early missions it took me like 15 minutes to find a damn shovel.

I love that about the game, its not 'go to the colour waypoint, pick it up etc', that every game uses. Its more realistic, you have to read to know more, actually read, you gotta actually find the tunnel near the place thats littered with so many other tunnels etc.

It was one mission where the directions are based on a poem or something and you follow it, but once you get to the place, its not there, you actually have to go back or something. Some bullshit. But other than that, I loved it.

Really great game, my only complaint was that it seemed to end out of nowhere. Turns out the game is basically only half-finished; the story doesn't actually come to a conclusion. Apparently the game was meant to be "3 acts" and they consider the released game as only "act 1 and 2". It's a shame, because with a more complete story, I'd have said the game is close to being a masterpiece. One of the best RPGs I've played, and definitely one of the best medieval-themed games too.

Just want to add that I think it was genius how the game makes you have to learn to read in order to then read stuff in the game. Makes a lot of sense considering your character backstory.

It was interesting, but never really grabbed me. By the time I came to appreciate it's realism(which is really well...err...realized), I got a little tired of it all the same.

It is good at what it does, though, and pretty damn unique all in all. It's definitely worth checking out, if you're looking for something seemingly familiar, but quite a bit off the beaten path.

It's a time consumer. Need to practice everything like memorizing sword maneuvers and even learning alchemy step-by-step. Mess the order up and the potion fails. The game makes you have to learn everything, which I found interesting. Realistic. Isn't "gamey". You level up by learning, then get perks for the skill you just practiced.

It's one of the few games of huge scope where every quest is crafted. No fetch quests in side missions, but story- and consequence-based. And your choice can affect yourself or a segment of people permanently.

The storytelling is also good. A long revenge story in the war-torn Kingdom of Bohemia (Czech) as its backdrop. The game tries to be historically accurate, so there is something to learn as well (though told history is always somewhat varying). A telling of those times.

If you have patience the game becomes immersive and rewarding. It's very unique. Combination of medieval simulator and a set main character driven RPG. And a brutal lockpicking mechanic. And a save token-based saving system. Save smartly. It is a slow-paced game, even the loading screens are brutally long.

Just picked this up for PS4 the other day for a good price. Haven't installed/played it yet but I'm glad so many people seem to like it.

Need to give FF15 a proper go first. It's super slow but for $8 used figure I'll give it a shot.

It's based on actual Czech/Bohemian history and the actual medieval towns of that time and real historical figures and real swordfighting techniques. This was a passion project for Warhorse Studios and it shows.

I tracked this game out about 4 years before its release and bought it day one.

It's good to get the game now, since it's all patched up and all the DLC has been released. It was a nightmare on release, not quite Cyperpunk level bugs, but not far off, worse than Elder Scrolls.

Hope you enjoy. It gets a lot easier as you go however, as you get skills, stats and better gear. You can become quite overpowered if you choose to go out w/ full plate and high level skills, killing entire bandit camps with ease by yourself.

Looks like a game I'd absolutely love. Got it free or cheap, can't even remember, but it didn't run that well on my laptop so I decided to wait on it.. then never got around to playing it.

Really need to get on that.

Loved it, though never finished it.. Played the first 50% about 10 times through.

DLC is worth getting too, the A Womans Lot one I thought was one of the best DLC's i've ever played.

I enjoyed but didn't finish it. I should get back to it at some point.

I haven't played it in a while, but I started the original thread about it and some now banned user was arguing this about it

Oh, so now it's breaking records? I thought it was just "new" and that's why it had higher numbers?

This is exactly what I'm talking about, you have no shame. Even after people correct you, you just keep arguing, and are even presenting the data you disagreed with in an attempt to strengthen your argument.

Yes, Kingdom Come will go down as one of the all-time great PC games, and one of the best RPG's on the platform. I don't really care if you disagree, you have proven to be a half wit multiple times in the small compass of our interactions.

I don't think its gone down as an All time Great game yet.

I enjoyed it but that fucking quest where you go to the Abbey and pretend to be a monk was painful.

I played through it once and enjoyed it a lot. I loved the progression of the main character, going from a poor peasant who can't even read and gets thrashed by random bandits and Cumans to a seasoned warrior who makes the Cumans shit themselves at his approach.

Just curious what weapons you guys used the most?

I'm finally getting to the point where I'm somewhat capable at combat.....I've cleared two bandit camps now, killing multiple enemies. Currently I'm using a cheap Mercenary short sword, which was the best weapon I could afford with good stab damage. Stabbing seems to be the method of attack that works best for me; for some reason I can't quite seem to hit people with slashes consistently. I'm not using a shield.

I've heard that maces/axes are better against armored opponents, but I haven't encountered anyone with heavy armor, yet. How about short sword VS long sword? Shield, yes or no?

I used all of them except for the hunting swords, which had inferior stats to the other one handed swords if I remember correctly. I would pretty much always use a shield unless using a two handed weapon, and I probably ended up using axes the most. My favourite was the one handed battle axe with the spike so you could still thrust it and stab people in the face; it did OK against heavy armour and would chop through lightly armoured foes with ease, a good compromise between the sword and mace. I ended up using the maces a lot as well, especially later in the game as they are great for dealing with enemies in heavy armour. I would still carry a one handed sword and a longsword around as well, as they are fun to use and have more combo attacks than axes or maces. The Bow is also very good for thinning out larger groups of enemies so you don't get swarmed. I relied on it a lot early on when my fighting skills were shit and I would get wrecked in melee. Also useful for hunting, you can make decent money selling meat.
