The UFC struggles to book fights with khamzat every single time , and they seem to be struggling with Ddp negotiations. Injuries, travel restrictions, hanging with Russian dictator murderer. I can’t imagine this guy as a champion , literally a nightmare unlike the ‘nightmare’ usman, or the dream Sanchez

It would certainly easier to get fights with a belt on your waist and in more favorable terms. If he stays active and undefeated he could be the next P4P number one he has more potential than others.

it def could be an issue if he's not able to fight twice a year. He has to first be booked in the title fight and then win it and then we can have these talks.

If his travel remains restricted, there's no way they should give him a title shot. The belt shouldn't be held up by a champion who can only fight in certain locations due to his "questionable" associations.

He would fight same amount a year as Khabib did......... ONCE

Really 1.5 defenses a year seems to be the new champion norm.
Yes, it's even close to the norm for elite fighters in genereal.

During 2023-2024 the average for the top15 in every division was between 1.56 to 1.9 fights per year.
I think only about 8 ranked fighters did 3 fights per year (Pereira, Buckley, Garry, Prates, Ige, Lopez, Johnson, Van) over this two year period.

Why does he always need a year between fights?

Didn't he beat Rob in 2 minutes, why has it taken so long to announce when and who he's fighting next.
He's obviously fighting for the belt next and he had to first wait for DDP vs Strickland 2, which was a waste of time.

Hopefully DDP vs Khamzat takes place in the summer.

Serious health issues 😭

* After his first quick UFC win streak was gonna fight Leon in late 2020, but got covid. Rescheduled but kept feeling covid.
* Then fought Jingligng, Burns and Holland in just 6 months and was gonna fight Costa 1 month after that but it fell through. Was later hospitalized all puffy and rashy. And had surgery I think. Before the Usman fight.
* Dana said the winner of Khamzat vs Usman would get title shot "barring injuries" - and Khamzat did injure his hand during the fight.
* Then became "violently ill" before the Whittaker fight, which was rescheduled

Interesting stats, thanks. And yeah, it's nice to see that I'm not crazy/individual fight frequencies have really gone down.

I think they would've done DDP vs Khamzat if they could.
DDP said he strongly preferred that fight.
And pretty sure Dana would've loved giving Khamzat a title shot.

There were rumors of visa issues

so inactive. Worst thing to happen to MW would be this guy getting a belt. Shit they don't even have his TS booked because...why? Damn sure it isn't DDP's fault.
