There really was a time people thought Bo Nickal could beat Khamzat cause of his wrestling credentials, despite even his best performances not matching Khamzat's worst. Glad we've moved past that.

Also, Khamzat is a far better wrestler than Bo. Not gonna be gaslighted into thinking otherwise when we've all watched the same thing

MMA wrestling? For sure.

Watching a pure wrestling match between the two would be interesting.

The gap between their sport wrestling is much smaller than the gap between their mma wrestling imo

Like others stated, it's the mma wrestling difference. Khamzat is great pushing them against the fence, trapping and dragging them down from there.

It is also hard to compare because Khamzat also uses trips, BJJ etc. To secure takedowns and top control. He's simply a lot more well rounded and also bigger and stronger.

I could already see this by the time Bo fight Pickett.

It really has gotten to the point where wrestling credentials are hardly relevant anymore. Think about it, we've been at that point with BJJ for a long time already. No one thinks Gordon Ryan would do well in MMA despite being the best in the world at BJJ. Wrestling is catching up with that now. And no one really thinks Rico would come in and take over MMA either.

MMA is truly becoming separate from the sports it is built upon. There are exceptions like Adesanya but people choose to ignore that he had also been fighting MMA for almost a decade before he got into the UFC. Pereira is a huge anamolies, and you could argue that Pereira only got there due to favorable matchups: he improved his grappling along the way, but if challenged earlier in his path, it likely would've been exploited.

Cormier and Brock as well, but HW is its own separate thing, and those guys are from a past era. Gane would be a more modern example I guess but could also make the same Pereira matchup argument with him during his ascension.
