Great fight.. exciting standup brawl. Thought Bonnar did enough for the win

I think it's widely known that Bonnar won that fight.
The question is what caused the judges to call it the way they did.

Probably the worst fight ever. Let the casuals to believe that MMA is all about bad cardio, swinging wildly.

It led me to believe it was about heart, determination, the will to win, and never giving up.

I'm not a fan of that fight to be honest.

I think it's because both of them are meh fighters and it doesn't seem very significant.

The fight itself is fun, but to me it feels like a great undercard brawl rather then a legendary fight.

But I get it, marketing, TUF, etc etc..

At least Forrest did well for himself, he seems like an ok dude.

I don't think anyone is claiming it was the best fight ever. But is was an important event. See this...

And those are things that sport is all about. It turned "human cock fighting" into something that had redeeming qualities for the mainstream.

The truth is there wouldn't be undercards, good, bad, or indifferent, if the UFC hadn't had a breakthrough with TUF. The fight wasn't technical, but it was entertaining and highlighted the spirit of the fighter as something to admire. There is a UFC event almost every weekend on the most watched sports network in the USA instead of DVDs of hard-to-get PPVs in the back isle of Blockbuster like they were before that fight.

I remember not liking that fight so much the second time around but context is everything.

It capped off the first TUF season nicely but as a stand-alone fight it was a bit lacking.

They wanted the good looking guy to win. Its important for MMA marketability.
