Hey,

I am looking for a good quality jump rope for fitness training / muay thai.

I haven't used one since I was a kid and I was never good at them.

Would love some recommendations, don't want to spend $50 on one that'll be too fast/advanced for me.

Thanks.

I just went to Walmart and bought a $7 vinyl (or whatever) rope. You don't really need anything more to start with.

Cheap vinyl style speed rope is fine, not a lightweight fitness rope thing.they don't swing right imo. When you stand on the middle of it the handles should reach your armpits for sizing.

NOT this kinda thing:Argos - www.argos.co.uk

Yeah, the cheaper the better. It's only a jump rope -- no need to get crazy.

Choose vinyl or leather over the woven nylon stuff, though.

I got a Everlast jump rope from wal-mart to lmao. Whatever you do never buy a Winning jump rope thats like $50. Just saying.

Personally, I like the Everlast Leather Jump Ropes with the Ball Bearings in the handles. The ball bearings help prevent the rope from wearing out where it connects to the handles, and the rope can be shortened, and adjusted to your size as "Tone" mentioned. I also like to do a verbal chant that helps me with the rhythm.

I found an old (short) video of me jumping rope, and if you listen carefully toward the end of the video, you'll hear the rhythm chant that works good for me. I am the one in the video, wearing the white hat and suit coat, with the tie.

I hope this helps.

Big five has the ones with weights in the handles, the ones Im using have 2lbs in each handle.

Take any jump rope you want, don't spend more than 10-15 bucks on it. Even the vinyl ones are just fine. Don't waste your money on this 50 dollar shit you see in the commercials.

the $7 one from everlast is my personal favorite good handles and you can spin it fast

I originally got a leather one from everlast but after trying a vinyl speed rope I switched to that because it's much easier. The vinyl ones seem to hold an arched shape better and make it a little easier to jump without catching it.

Also make sure you get the right length, I got a 10ft rope and it made life a lot easier for me having one that was long enough finally.
