Judo vs Sambo Fight (Proof for self defense effectiveness)

Mods don't delete, this isn't your average stupid street fight. It doesn't even look like a full blown fight. But more like couple of practitioners having a disagreement.

Pretty great fight, I've never seen a more technical back and forth "street" fight in my life. Had either of these guys fought some random thug in a hand to hand confrontation, they would have easily handled themselves, the only reason this was competitive was due to both being well trained in their art.

This also proves that you don't need a special Gi jacket, and that just the human body and t-shirts are more than enough to work your Judo/Sambo. Also, Sambo kid was much bigger and was doing better, but towards the end the Judo guy seems to regain the upper hand.

Wanted thoughts on this.
 
That was pretty insane! Definitely some good technique going on there and a crazy back and forth affair. Still..the whole thing didn't sit well with me. All those people standing around, headbutts...definitely still a full on street fight.

Also, I think the guy in the short shorts was the sambo guy, not the judo guy. And I felt like even though it was back and forth, he was winning the whole fight, and dominating at the end.

Also, what you say about this being proof technique translating without the Gi, may not be completely the case. I don't think the Judo guy really landed any throws. Every time he tried, he got countered with a body-lock wrestling style throw. I know sambo uses the Gi too, but from what I understand generally has more wrestling influenced takedowns (of course, depends on your particular school).
 
Wow, kid in the orange shorts got worked. Interesting that there were a few places where old school vale tudo would have helped him out.

Well, I'm no Judo apologist, you're right, he didn't really land anything. But, I think watching Hector Lombard do throws on people, watching Akiyama throw people, and watching Ronda Rousey throw people, and watching Khabib Nurmagomedov throw the likes of Rafael Dos Anjos shows that it's not an impossible feat.
 
How do we know who is who? Are you sure this is not BJJ vs wrestling? And where are they?

Not sure how random judo guy vs random sambo guy says much of anything, including the use of no-gi techniques ... have they been practicing a year? Ten years? Once a week? Seven days a week? Has either won tournaments?
 
Also these guys could have just been two athletic dudes that know how the scrap. You dont need to have x amount of years in grappling arts to body slam people like that. Plus you have to remember martial arts are not that popular to begin with, but it does not stop people from fighting. Yes, you see a triangle attempt, but they could have just seen too much MMA.

This is about blindly arguing what one's own cul... oops :redface: I mean art and /or specific teacher says. Any other trib.. er...um martial art or person who disagrees is stupid...

Sorry if the sarcasm is a bit thick... I just get very...impatient with tribalism and the arguments they produce

I was just showing a good video of a realistic scrap between two practitioners of very similar arts.

"self-righteous...what?" Go ahead and say it. It's not like you will to my face. I apologize for preemptively posting that before the thread devolved. I know any point I make will be turned into sophist arguments that ignore the/my main point. and i agree with the point that the video gives no real indication on how much they have trained or even train without the jacket

I have been in SEVERAL heated discussions on this forum. You are the first person who's called me a nobody when I had the reasonable reaction of implying that you are much more likely to talk to me the way you are because we're anonymous and online than you would in person....

I wasn't using myself as a measuring stick... did I get a little bit too sarcastic earlier...maybe.
