Fanmio would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling fighters.

After departing the confines of the UFC Octagon following a 10-year tenure with the promotion, Jorge Masvidal turned his attention to boxing. While his retirement from competition—issued after a decision loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287—was short-lived, he had some unfinished business with fellow UFC castout Nate Diaz.

The two have previous met atop UFC 244 for the inaugural symbolic “BMF” title, with Masvidal busting up Diaz over the course of 15 minutes to elicit a doctor stoppage intervention. The company Fanmio gave them the opportunity to run back their match, albeit in a boxing ring and not an MMA cage. The two toed the line on July 6, 2024, and Diaz secured the majority decision nod. According to both men, Fanmio never paid them their proper fight purses.

ESPN announced news of the progress of both arbitration cases the fighters had against Fanmio on Thursday. Florida judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez awarded Masvidal a default judgment for over $5 million in his suit against Fanmio. The total dollar amount reached $5,316,268.24 specifically, plus any interest that will accrue following this judgment.

These fly by night sideshow promoters like Triller and Bleeker, whatever the fuck, they utterly ooze "janky promoter" in all their endeavors.

Fighters would be wise to insure they're not getting taken advantage of by these fugazy money laundering LLC's and Apps.

#StillBetterThanSLAP

they have a bunch of them from The Middle East too. Eddie Hall and Hafthor never got paid for their boxing fight in 2022 even though event supposedly made millions. they had some bogus promotion pop in Qatar last year that was saying their main event would pay $300m for Eddie Hall and Mitch Hooper to fight MMA. to put into perspective, May vs Pac made a COMBINED purse of $300m. they have a lot of, what seems to be, money laundering scams going on over there.

Leaving the UFC for "greener pastures" is a minefield of charlatans, schemes, scams and currently-failing or soon-to-be-failed leagues

This is the dude who owns "Fanmio" and went to Devry University lmao ... his CV is hilarious in general.

Nate and Jorge have been awarded 11 million between them, frankly these judgements are worthless. Even if they can pierce the corporate veil, this turkey does not have assets in the tens of millions. They should never have agreed to these terms, bad business move.

Yea say what you want about the UFC and there is plenty to say but at least you get fucking paid.
Exactly. It's easy as fans to shit talk and malign every shortcoming associated with the UFC, fighter pay being particularly egregious, but...
Their lights stay on, their contracts are always honored, and they're the most reliable org. by several orders of magnitude.

They may not make as many millionaires as they can afford to, but the other orgs that have tried to pay fighters big upfront purses have either plateau'd (PFL) or folded/merged with UFC almost 10 years ago at this point

I'm absolutely down for fighters to go get all of the boxing/freakshow purses they can manage to secure, just be aware these of these investor, tech and crypto bros posing as fight promoters.

Judgements are great...but it does not mean there is actually money there to collect.

It seems that Fanmio has not updated social media or its website in 2025...not a good sign. The last event they were linked to seems to have been Ryan Garcia's fight that got bumped from Dec. 2024 to 'early 2025' to Garcia/Golden Boy cancelling, resulting in Fanmio suing (I don't think that is settled yet).

i.e., I can't imagine there is 10+ mil in cash sitting around to pay Jorge and Nate.
