Jose Shorty Torres released from UFC contract

Just more confirmation that’s the UFC is canning 125.
 
That's deep, Christmas coming up and out of a job.
Hopefully he gets picked up soon elsewhere.
 
weird the ufc didnt let him move up in weight and try the 135 pound division.

or maybe they never gave him the option?

Give the fighters the option to move up or leave at least.
 
Fuck.. I didn't really believe they would just cut them.

Give the lower half of them one win or get cut fight in 135.

Torres looked like shit in the UFC anyways, brutally knocked out in his last fight and was getting dominated by brooks.
 
This is going to be really sad to watch, with all the flyweights getting unceremoniously dumped unless they want to beg to move up to bantamweight.

He had piss poor defense and would only get KO'd again with more UFC fights. It's better for his own career that he leaves and has the opportunity to get better somewhere else.
 
The good news is the newly announced One FLW tourney can only get better from the UFC closing 125. I can definitely envision One at least targeting any top 15 guys that get cut or even that have a choice of moving up or getting released. Probably most guys 5'4" and under are getting cut.
 
Anyone who questions why a fighter should be able to renegotiate with one fight left should be reminded that UFC can cut them any time during a contract.
