The temporary tattoo was a logo for a special forces unit in the Brazil Navy, where Aldo has done some boxing training in the past. He wanted to honor them with the patch.

The move by Aldo raised some questions about whether Aldo coming in with unapproved body art would be in violation of the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance policy. He said it wasn’t his intention to be sneaky, though, and apologized if the surprising temporary tattoo caused unintended issues.

“The truth, I didn’t know if I needed permission because it’s the Navy Seals, and I put it there in the hotel before I came here, and I warmed up for three hours without a shirt,” Aldo told reporters, including MMA Junkie, through an interpreter post-fight at UFC Fight Night 183. “Nobody told me anything. I don’t think it’s a problem because it doesn’t have any sponsor information. If I caused any problems, I apologize.” Aldo mentioned.

Its okay if he wants to throw a shoutout to people who helped him out
Now somebody coming in with some racist/nazi ink, that would be disastrous for PR

Rogan and the other commentators actually mentioned it early on in the fight. Said something along the lines of it being "good art" because it was so bright, and stood out. They all thought it was a permanent tattoo as well.

Interesting to find out it was just temporary.

He definitely wouldn't have been permitted to have it there, if he'd have said something. It opens the door for every fighter wanting to do something special for their fight, by using a temporary tattoo of some sort.

I have a feeling if a USA fighter had a 'navy seal' or 'suppprt our troops' temporary tattoo there would be nothing said, if someone said something they would probably be crucified for being unpatriotic.

They were probably trying to cover for him lest the bald goof find out and fine him they did Cowboy for wearing a patch honoring his grandmother

Yep, UFC is petty and sad like with Cerone and that bit of his old shorts that he wore for his Grandma or something.

That's wierd, because while me and a couple friends were watching, we were all commenting how obviously fake it looked. We were debating whether it was a temporary tattoo or a sticker.

How someone sitting ringside - especially Rogan who has a lot of tattoos - would think it looked real is puzzling

surprised it slipped by but UFC will be all over this

because it can turn into a shit show pretty quick

Holy shit Aldo is jacked. Bundle of fast twitch muscle fibres.
