What a fantastic career he had. Truly one of the OGs of the fight game. Even though he never reached the pinnacle of the sport by winning a belt, he’s done a fantastic job at making the most of his potential.

His 2019 run was amazing and even though you could argue the feats were less impressive than they looked, especially after the Askren knockout he managed to catch a wave of hype relatively late in his fighting career, and rode it until there was no more left.

He realized he had the charisma needed to become a fan favourite at the perfect time and milked it to maximize his earning potential by somewhat exaggerating his persona, which turned some people off but unfortunately still is necessary to make the real money in this game of MMA. But, based off of the visuals shown in last week’s Embedded he looks very well off and in his post fight interview he said he was set for life aswell.

From the backyard brawls to the biggest fighting stage in the world, Masvidal is a rags-to-riches story and should serve as an example of how to build yourself the hard way. I became a fan the moment he beat “Ray” in those legendary Kimbo Slice videos, all the way through those legendary Bodog matchups (especially against Yves Edwards), Strikeforce, Bellator, and finally the UFC.

He’s fought the best of the best and gave us many memorable moments. Jorge Masvidal has had a fantastic career and can look back on it with pride!

He capitalised on his 15 minutes of fame and now he's a multimillionaire. Congrats to him.

Always been a big fan of his skillset and the way he fights.

As a person I don't care for him too much, but it's an appreciation thread so I'll leave that there.

He should be proud of his career, it was a fun ride.

Career journeyman who had his 15 minutes of fame.

Plus he's a sucker puncher and a wannabe gangster.

Yeah he was a really good gatekeeper

You can meme him and shit on him all you like but he’s achieved more in life than all three of you combined.

I can say this with certainty because even though he’s retired now your best input is to troll a guy with over 50 professional fights as an MMA “fan”.

Good fighter, was always elite even when during the journeyman portion of his career, had one of the best years anyone has ever had in 2019, set himself and his family up for life off of the fight game (the goal for all careers).

PLENTY of stuff I don't like about the guy and I'm sure his retirement will involve some disgraceful shenanigans of one kind or another but appreciation for lots of fun fights.

"HuuRr dUrR E AZ doNe mOrE dAn U!!"

I expected that response lol. Why do you need to flex on another man's accomplishment?

I don't troll him, I'm just stating fact. He's a sucker puncher and a wannabe gangster.

I have maybe exaggerated about his fame, it wasn't litteraly 15 minutes :)
