At about 16:40, a reporter asks Jones about his big three lifts

"I ended up with 315 for 5 bench press, Deadlifts was about 640lbs. My bench is about 500lbs, maybe 520lbs, something around there"

500lbs is equivalent to 226 kilograms, which is FIVE PLATES (45lbs) a side plus the bar. Also, keep in mind he has very long arms at 6'4, and so benching heavy weights is much harder due to leverage and greater total distance travelled.

This is what a 500 lb bench press looks like. To put things into perspective "Based on bench press standards and the average body weight of an American male, an untrained or novice man can often lift between 135 and 175 pounds."

A 500lb bench press, would be considered ELITE for a powerlifter who weighs 290lbs

Now, obviously this is not powerlifting or bodybuilding, but with that amount of strength, combined with Jones godlike wrestling, Gane is in trouble. Big big trouble

proof or did not happen. Also he was lifting 600+ lbs for the OSP fight too and he could not even take OSP down for the first 3 rounds... which mousasi and glover did without problems. Mousasi took OSP down 4 times while jones failed every takedown attempt in the first 3 rounds and only managed to take osp down in the forth and fifth round when OSP broke his hand.

You guys believe him?
The first two I do believe. The last one seems too much and oddly unspecific for a narcissist like Jon.
Considering his crazy Ape index, the bench seems way too close to the deadlift.

What was his maximum walkaround weight tho?

In one of his embedded videos, he seemed to rep out 315 quite easily, so its possible.
I have seen a video of him deadlifting monstrous weights before, back when he was a LHW

He doesn't really deadlift; look at his form.

Dude, he clearly screwed his words up.

He said “I bench 315lb for 5 reps, deadlift 640lb and then I bench 500-520lb” he obviously meant to say squat there. He brain farted. Nobody that admittedly states they do 315lb for 5 reps does 500lb. He would be 5 repping well into 400lb.

But seriously he meant that’s his squat number and fucked up his wording. He stated his bench number already in the same breath and those are 100% his squat numbers.

He even says prior some guys in the division probably bench more than he does.

From 5*315 to 1*520 is a big difference. The first one seems more honest than the second one.
Yeah it is a big difference. I don't know if he clarified 5x315 as his absolute max, or just the numbers he did comfortably.

I don't know how accurate bench press converters are, but i tried inputting 315x5 max and it translates to 368 lbs for 1RM. Still freakishly strong though, for someone who isn't a powerlifter, and has long as arms

Jon doesnt have "godlike" wrestling in the least. Its very good for MMA but hes always had freak strength which is what made his wrestling work and why it looked so much worse and less effective against bigger and stronger opponents.

500 lb squat sounds reasonable and believable.

In his past few fights his wrestling didn't look too good. But he did manage to take down DC who is an Olympian. Maybe not "godlike", but his wresting is still pretty top notch

Yea, I thought that was crazy especially with his Gumby arms but realized he simply meant to say squat.
