Out with the old and in with the new breed of fighters as Jon Jones (17-1) looks at the future of the ever growing sport. Jones selected fairly newcomer Rory MacDonald (13-1) to defeat veteran B.J. Penn (16-8-2) when the two meet later this month.

JJ has a point. BJ has been there and done that and struggles with "motivation" (see every other Sherdog thread). Whereas, Rory is hungry and has that weird kind of serial killer demeanour.

Dont get me wrong I want BJ to win but I think Rory takes this.

Better boxing + elite ground game + some of the best TDD in the history of the sport?

I think Rory takes it because he's just that good, but Penn has many ways to win. He may be inconsistent to say the least, but this is still a guy who out-wrestled Fitch, busted up GSP, got Nick Diaz's back with ease, choked out Florian, had a competetive fight with Machida, and has held the belt in 2 weight classes.

Like him or not, Penn is a legend and incredibly well rounded.

Well. BJ KOd Hughes, Fought to a draw with Fitch and did not quit against Diaz so I would not say he "comfortable".

Rory folded against Condit when he virtually had the fight won, what does say about him?
