I hope this is a return to form, but I highly doubt it will be.

Also, even picking just 5 favourites from his films is hard. I actually left off They Live! My top 5 are (not in order): Escape from NY, The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness, In the Mouth of Madness

It will likely suck. That guy doesn't give a fuck about the movie business anymore. He just collects checks now. I bet he "directed" this, about as much as Tobe Hooper directed "Poltergeist".

I remember a story about Rob Zombie looking for his blessing to remake "Halloween", and he was apparently all "Go for it. I don't give a shit."

He's an old man, who has no more fucks to give.

I won’t bother watching but I didn’t realize he made so many films.

Ftr, his opening narration in the song Tech Noir by GUNSHIP is quite good. Apparently part 2 is coming out soon and again features him.

To be fair I think Tobe Hooper did a lot more of Poltergeist than media legend has it, I think that was always elitism looking to cast horror directors like Hopper as talentless hacks compared to "real" directors like Speilberg.

Carpenter was I think one of the ultimate examples of a "classy horror director" during his peak, his films were always really well shot and I think after the They Live semi blacklisting you saw him becoming more generic.

Halloween
Both escape`s
Big Trouble in Little China
Assault on precinct 13

Show looks mid still might check it out.

Halloween

Assault on Precent 13

Escape from New York

Big Trouble in Little China

They Live

Honestly, I could have swapped out at least a couple of those movies for others of his. Carpenter has made some GOATs in his time.

It will debut on Oct 13 which is also Friday the 13th. This is his first project he has directed in 13 years. He will also produce the music for the series.

Given he also produced the recent trilogy of Halloween films despite never spending a day on set for any of them, I'm suspicious of his involvement with anything with his name on it.

Seems like he loans his name out for projects in exchange for $$$.

Off subject - He weirdly is the oldest-looking 75 year old on the planet. Could pass for being in his 90s.

Edit - For as long as he's been in public life, he's looked drasticly older than he was. This is a pic of him from 1995, 28 years ago, when he was 47.

It'll be a true crime re-enactment approach and he'll direct 1 episode. I doubt this will add much to his legacy but speaking of...look at his body of work, that man has nothing left to prove.

Halloween
Thing
Someone's Watching Me
They Live
Fog

He's on the Mt Rushmore of directors for me

That's always been a bs narrative against Hooper, watch almost any of his other early to mid 80's movies (The Funhouse, Lifeforce, Invaders from Mars) and they all have a similar look. Spielberg directed some of the second unit footage which was effects heavy but Hooper's style is all over that movie.

I do wonder how much Carpenter actually has to do with this, he did direct a music video for one of his albums about 3-4 years back and it was good.

Surprised at the lack of love for Christine. That shit is epic. "Death! To the shitters of the world of 1979!"

Peacock is developing a good amount of shows. I watch killing it on there which is hilarious, mrs.davis, twisted metal, macgruber.

the gif doesn't do it justice, but I love that scene where car is on fire and just steadily pursuing this guy.
