I love this guy man! He was the FIRST fighter in the MMA who used a traditional boxing stance and used to have crazy good boxing until he injured his back deadlifting incorrectly thanks to Jeremy Horn!:icon_evil

For those who don't remember. Joe Riggs was also the FIRST guy to FINISH Chris Lytle who has never been finished. Now I know your going to say it was a cut but he was landing vicious VICIOUS GnP on him. The crowd could hear his fist slamming the UFC canvas it was NUTZ!

Guys listen to me man, Joe Riggs has been fighting since he was a kid. He was a boxer when he was young and started cage fighting at 18. He was in the game before Ronda was alive!

I for one am proud to see an old school fighter like Riggs fighting like a warrior even to this day!

WAR Joe "Diesel" Riggs!!!

He is the first guy to get his ass kicked in a hospital.

I've always been a fan...

Nice try Riggs.

Hey smartass, your here reading all these threads. Is that your idea of getting a life?

I respect Riggs and all of his accomplishment. Don't forget, before Conor,Ronda and Weidman. Riggs was in the game and he deserves credit.

is he the first guy to call the ref over to stop the fight

while he is on top landing huge elbows?

With the way the term "legend" gets thrown around like rice at a wedding in the MMA world, it seems the only prerequisite to qualify for that is if a fighter had fought and won in one of the bigger promotions previous to the first TUF. So yes, I would say Riggs qualifies as a "legend" due to the ridiculously low standards that are set.

Just because you've been doing something for a long time it doesn't mean you're a legend in it.

Oh yeah?

I dare you to say such things to each and every one of the 364 MMA fighters that have already been appointed their "legend" status by the MMA community throughout the sport's short history.

First to call the end of a fight to the refs attention was Royce vs Shamrock at UFC 1.

I think the very first via elbows was Remco Pardoel vs Orlando Wiet at UFC 2.

Ah, good one. I haven't thought of that fight in ages, but holy hell, that was some viciousness right there.

He's also fought in also every weightclass. He started at 300 lbs
