I don't know if that's a great accomplishment in muay thai or not. But from what we saw last saturday night. His muay thai skill is legit. He's one of the only few fighters in the ufc that can consistently check leg kicks.

If I can recall correctly even some Sherdoggers were invited to K-1 despite not having much experience. It is just not that elite

Yeh, his checking of calf and leg kicks was impressive, and he seemed to also use some front kicks (not strictly muay Thai I know) to keep Izzy at range, then tortured him with the jab.

He was really more well rounded than I gave him credit for.

That he did. His leg kick checks were locked in and deflecting most of izzy's lower body work. And Jan's jab was also money. Landed a number of solid ones that you could tell Izzy was having to poker face a bit. Only thing Izzy was having any success with was getting Jan to react to feints, but he wasn't able to find any openings off them as Jan wasn't being too reckless. Jan fought a great fight.
