Both guys have styles that rely heavily on fast reflexes. At around mid 30s guys tend to slow down and lose some of that reaction time. Even a fraction of second slower is all it takes in this game especially at the top level.

That's why Khabib and GSP retired early. They understood the sport too well. Anderson and Fedor kept losing to guys they would have destroyed in their primes. It happens.

Jones is the only guy doing it at his age but even he is choosing his opponents very wisely

This is a disrespectful comparison. Anderson proved how damn good he was in his prime when he was still fighting very well against top fighters including Adesanya himself when he was already 40+. Adesanya is losing his athleticsm at 35 and is already getting hammered and he has no skills and technique to rely on that makes him stay competitive. Izzy was all genetics.
