It was announced earlier today in the press release for the upcoming lightweight title fight between Curt Warburton and Stevie Ray that Ivan Bunchinger has vacated his title and been released by CWFC.

Ivan Buchinger and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship have parted company as a result of the fighter

Interesting. Would definitely hope he's signed then. His fights are always fun and he's damn crafty.

CWFC are getting themselves into a position where they dont need to be bullied. Good for them, extremely well run promotion.

he's fighting Sergei Golyaev at M-1 Challenge 47

That can change with one call from the UFC.

I doubt he would have vacated the belt just to fight for M-1.

I suspect he's fighting Nick Hein in Berlin.

Nice prediction, I could see this.

must be ufc, god bless the CW crew for just saying 'go' when their champions get the call. those belts are worth their weight in gold.

So he vacated the belt just hoping he would get a call from the UFC? Or are you suggesting the UFC had already reached out? The same day he is released from CWFC, M-1 announces he'll be fighting at M-1 Challenge 47. it's silly to think he would vacate the belt without a concrete offer. But, let's say he did have an offer from the UFC, why would he agree to fight in M-1 hours later?

He very well may end up in the UFC, i just don't think it's in the works now because of the timing with M-1.

its a shame, his fight with Stevie Ray was one of the best fights of last year imo. Glad Stevie is getting another shot at the belt, felt he was winning the fight until he got caught in that choke

apparently he wasnt happy with the terms of his contract and asked for his release, CWFC were happy to oblige

Do you know for a fact that's what happened or are you just assuming?

No one here mentioned that these announcements were simultaneous; he could have been the Champ & still had a fight scheduled for M-1 because small-time orgs do these things all the time.

I'm suggesting a vacation of the belt implies he has been contacted by the UFC, & is pulling out of both CWFC & M-1.

4-0 since McGregor, 7-1 in his last 8.

3 of his only 4 losses have come to UFC talent, (McGregor, Kuivanen, Corassani)

his last fight with Stevie Ray is worth a watch, really good fight. Ivan is a talented fighter

But it’s company policy not to be held to ransom by any fighter

found this quote oddly hilarious, good for CWFC in this situation

can't help but read that quote as "WE DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS!" maybe I've been watching to much Air Force One
