How do you handle your taxes?

Personally, I've been using freetaxusa for the past couple years. I figure it's fine since I don't own a business and I just take the standard deduction.

What do you guys use? And do you itemize? Do you pay some fancy accountant? Or do you use some meth-addicted 19-year old from H&R Block?

Any good tips to share?

I use the best EA in the world, happens to be me. Not looking forward to tax season this year. At lease I will be one year closer to retirement.

It's only January 12th and you are already talking about tax? My strategy is the Homer Simpson approach (with FreeTaxUSA, which is just as good as Turbo Tax but free)

Accountant. Tried a few times to do things myself, and got tangled up. Rather pay someone to ensure I don’t do something stupid again.

Last year I used turbo tax. Thinkin this year I’ll do that again. It was so easy I couldn’t believe it.

I use the free ones on the irs site. I'm a home owner but the standard deduction is higher than I can itemize.

Well it's not exactly free. They charge for one of them. I can't remember which, but it's like federal is free then you pay for state.

I always buy the extra support and audit guarantee too since it's so cheap.

Even with all of those extras it's still way cheaper than TurboTax.

A sherdogger told me about it a couple years ago. Might have been you.

Last few years I’ve done them myself with tax software.

This year gonna use a tax service. Friend from HS does taxes

You can pay me to do something stupid. It seems that i get more stoopider every year.

Maybe for the Feds but not the state. Make sure to check your state's standard deduction.
