what do you guys think of this kid? 4-0 (4 KO’s), current WBA Inter-continental 154-pound champion, over 475 amateur fights. 2017 MVP of the World Series of Boxing. just co-mained on the GGG/Derevyanchenko card

i personally think he can’t possibly have the gas tank to fight the way he does for 12 whole rounds and he consistently smothers his own punches

but he might be the most entertaining guy to watch in boxing today

(those links are in chronological order btw)

Madrimov KO’s Walker in the 9th, ref rules it a slip. incredible

High level ammies usually does have capacity to develop a tank for decent 12 rounds without much problems.
Other stuff is ability to maintain attention at a level, even 8 rounds is long time, not alone 10 or 12 rounders.
If he does have 475 ammy fights, sadly maybe is too much used resource alerady..........
Still not that bad for such usage under belt.

Madrimov looked like he was gonna KOd a few times.
yeah he doesn’t look terribly tough or technical but the speed and power are fearsome. i think walker deserves the credit for giving him such a tough out

Seems like a lesser version of Golovkin. Occasionally showed some good footwork in his last one but seemed to not have much gas in the tank and got hit with a lot of dumb shit.

It was a good fight and he’s fun to watch but I don’t see a long career unless he dramatically changes the way he fights. He’s too easy to hit and expends way too much energy lunging about and swinging the way he does. That wouldn’t be as much of a problem if he had the gas tank for the style but he was gassed throughout. With over 450 fights as an amateur and pro his habits are probably deeply ingrained, though.

Well he does seem to like to swing for the fences. That's a pretty exploitable style for anyone with good timing and counterpunching ability. I don't see him making it to the top with that style. But it's an entertaining style.
