I'm hearing people question if Yadong is really only 25 years old and at first I just disregarded it. But I went back to watch a pro fight he lost at 17 vs Xian Ji and it does seem kind of odd. He was built the exact same as he is now, fighting at 135lbs....quite the developed body for a highschooler. And then to make it weirder, if you look at Yadong Song vs Alateng Heili which took place November 30th 2013, Yadong would have been 15 years and 11 months old at this point according to his date of birth but it has him listed at 19 years old for the tale of the tape at 0:38 into the video.

If China says he is 25 he is 25, like those young gymnasts a few years ago.

Also people mature differently maybe Yadong was fully grown at a young age and it showed, some people stay small until they grow.

That kid claimed to be 10 to play in the Little League World Series..

This is the problem with the internet. That picture isn't of Mike when he was 13, I believe he was actually 15-16 there. Cus hadn't officially adopted Mike until 1982. Mike also grew substantially between 15 and 19, meanwhile Yadong didn't grow at all?
Maybe Yadong was decent sized all along, but I have my doubts

I don't know either way... but he might had been too young to compete in that earlier fight & so he boosted his age up so that he could compete. It would be a great question for teh Shmo to ask him.

I can't believe this guy is headlining next weekends card. I really need to find a new sport to watch on weekends when theres no NFL.

I mean I can see why he would lie at that Chinese event, I assume like most places China doesn't allow adolescents to compete in professional fights.
And then later in his career? Idk. Maybe to get called a talent, but when going to the states and competing in the biggest promotion in the world, you'd think that when signing documents, on some level there would be ID required.
Physicallity wise, stuff like this is always difficult to say. There are regularly football players (not American) that compete at the highest level at age 16. Some guys do develop that early.
I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, but it would be a very interesting question for an interview.

Reminds me of the Kamal Shalorus debacle from back in the day.

It's hard to find anything on it now, but if you looked him up around the time that WEC was merging, all you found were articles about how he didn't know his age. His older brother had died so his parents just used the birth certificate for him when he came along, instead of getting him a new one. At least it was something along those lines.

Edit: here's something from 2013 after looking up "Kamal Shalorus Birth Certificate". Maybe Yadong is in the same situation eh, but instead of it being his older brother that died, it was his younger brother who they loved more and had already gotten a birth certificate for, while Yadong sat there all certificateless and starved. Then one day his younger brother died and he finally got the birth certificate he'd always wanted.
