I don't think so tbh. Do we know anything about his grappling?

i want van to win. i love the little viet.

but pantoja will likely take him down and hump him. i can't stand pantoja, such a boring fighter.

Pantoja wins easily since he has multiple ways to win and Van won't be ready for that.

He's faced a decent amount of grapplers. His TDD has looked great, but we haven't seen much grappling from him beyond that. I do not think he is ready for pantoja, but who knows. He deserves it and it's a fresh name for pantoja.

Nope. This is way too soon.

Pantoja has got the chin and game to be a nightmare for any flyweight.

Crazy to be able to pair such reckless striking with such brilliant chain wrestle/grappling.

He's got the chin and power in his hands to be able to get away with that reckless striking, and obviously his grappling. Really fun fighter to watch.

Probably not...but Van deserves his shot.

THAT is also the way to promote. None of this bullshit "we'll see on Tuesday" nonsense. Van stepped up three weeks ago, took out a top guy, called his shot and said he would be cage side for the title fight, and they brought him in, already anointed as next.

Who in the audience will NOT want to see this fight between one half of a FOTY candidate and the dominant champ who is marching towards divisional GOAT status if this keeps up?

He’s got the legit best “Zerg Rush” in the game - immediately forces a reckless brawl to pull guys into a whirlpool knowing he can eat the shots if necessary and immediately start grapple fucking them.

It’s kind of terrifying how no guy in the division knows how to stop it, he just never gives them that first minute (shit even ten seconds) to get comfortable.

If Van can survive a round of grappling he could take advantage of Pantoja’s tendency to slow down a bit. But that is all dependent on him surviving and not also gassing out in the process which is nowhere near a guarantee.

Van is young enough to where a loss to the #2 FLW of all time isn’t going to hurt him to set him back too badly. I’d guess if he loses then Pantoja moves up to BW and maybe he’d even fight for the interim or vacant right away.

Pantoja is a monster. He’s been underrated for some reason for a long time. It’s insane he isn’t considered a top 5 P4P

If Pantoja beats Van, he has to give 135 a shot and go after whoever has the belt by then
