Is the Wisconsin/Minnesota accent technically a Canadian accent?

If you put a Wisconsinman, a Minnesotaman, and an Ontario Canadaman paired with his cousin the Manitobaman in the same room, wouldn't they all sound the same?

They would all sound very similar but once conflict breaks out, only one will retreat

There are some similarities, but I would never confuse a midwesterner for a central/western Canadian on accent basis.

Now Maine/north eastern accent vs New Brunswick/northern Nova Scotia, those seem less distinguishable.

It is very close...

I would find it insulting to be compared with a bunch of floppy headed Canadians.

Wisconsin accents are very regional as different parts were settled by different groups. More people of German and Eastern European ancestry in the Eastern part of the state. More people of Scandinavian ancestry in Minnesota and North Western Wisconsin.

No. People from Minnesota/Wisconsin sound like people from northern Ontario/Manitoba. It's very regional. People from Toronto sound nothing like people from northern Ontario.

I’d get the hell out of that room as fast as possible.

Too much politeness and cheese.

I assume we are only talking about the Anglophones, because Northern Ontario French folks have their own very unique accent.

Im Canadian but nobody has ever guessed that based on my accent. I talk like a normal person, like Tom Cruz or something. Does Tom Cruz have an accent?

And that is not the Canadian.

that is funny as that is what I think too. I think my Canadian, Toronto region accent sounds exactly like the actors on TV doing no regional accents and just being neutral American.

But whenever I go to the USA, which is often and I start to speak, immediately some of the American's present start to make fun of my "Canadian Accent'.

They say I say "aboot' instead of 'about'... and I don't f*cking say a-boot. I wear boots and say that word properly and i am not saying that after 'a'. I say it like a boxing bout. 'a' - 'bout' but obviously there is some intonation difference I am making that I obviously cannot hear as i've had it said to me over a dozen times.
