how do you make this thread and not include andersons ko of vitor? Also, no. Finding examples of something being executed well doesn't make it the best move in mma

Teep kicks are generally used to the body to slow the forward progress of your opponent. Anderson sort of raised it up and KO'ed Vitor with it so that was a surprise twist on an old technique. Generally speaking though, the good old fashioned jab may just be the best and most basic move in both boxing and MMA. Entire careers have been built around a good jab.

There was a time when moves like the front kick was frowned upon as traditional hogwash. Then Anderson happened.

it can be.

It can devastate and control space, like a leg strike jab.

There is no best move.

It's not a surprise twist. It's a different kick. The teep (push) kick is what you see in Muay thai, you are lifting the knee up and pushing your foot out and down, like a horizontal stomp. The front kick, or front snap kick, is more commonly seen in the TKD and Karate, where the trajectory of the kick is upwards, and is chambered and the snapped out. I constantly see people confusing these techniques, even legit analysts. The front kick is the one that really seems to be effective in MMA, as it's harder to catch.

works better for taller fighters. I cant see Artem being very effective with it

Inside leg/calf kick or that oblique kick that Romero was doing to Whittaker best move in mma
