Is rolling in just compression shorts acceptable?

I have a couple pairs of compression shorts I wear to wrestling practice because we sweat buckets in there and I hate when I'm completely drenched in sweat so I wear compression gear all the time.
I'm going to an MMA gym to learn BJJ just for fun and I haven't worn my compression gear because I'm not sure if it's considered socially acceptable.

Is it?

It is perfectly acceptable to wear just your compression shorts....

...under your other shorts, yes.

Sounds acceptable to me. We have guys that roll in vale tudo "booty shorts" all the time. Hell, I roll in just my scramble rainbow spats all the time too. If someone says something, I say it's their problem not yours.

Depends on the gym. If it's a bunch of hobbyists or gi snobs, no. If it's an mma or hardcore bjj gym, yes. (at least in my experience)

Well it's an MMA gym and a lot of the guys rolling are amateur fighters trying to turn pro.

Another consideration is will you be rolling with women?

I can't speak for all women, but I would probably be uncomfortable rolling with a guy in just compression shorts.

Its most likely fine. Some dudes will probably rib you a bit for it, but that shouldn't matter too much

We would of course taunt you for your tiny package. Except for that, you're welcome.

Lmao.
That never happens in a wrestling singlet to anyone though, I think that's just one case of wearing compression shorts too small

2 things with that, 1) singlets are slightly thicker than compression shorts, and 2) people wear underwear under their wrestling singlet so they don't get wedgies, or show off their junk.

at my gym they'd probably just give me a bunch of crap for it. i wear vale tudo shorts to thai and boxing but not jiujitsu when i do go.

I feel like they're the same thickness and I wear tight boxer briefs under my singlet and compression shorts.

If you have to ask why then you probably are not ready to wear compression shorts only to roll. - E
