I knew he was losing that fight before the end of the 1st.

Who told him it was a good idea to stand with Yan like that?

Reason why fighters like Khabib and Islam go undefeated, they don't abandon their bread and butter

Yea imagine he just attempted a take down. Dumb by merab making it into a boxing match

He had trouble with his conditioning during training camp. He knew he would get tired if he went the same pace he usually does.

He won the first round with mostly his striking.

And when he tried the wrestling after round 1 it wasn't working. If his bread and butter was working he wouldn't have went 2/29 lol.

He was trying for takedowns but Yan was defending very well and using the cage to stop them. He was trying to mix it up and find something that worked but Yan was too prepared for this fight. Merab kept trying until the end.

Merab always fights like that, rushing in winging shots and going for the TD
If he can’t get the TD or control you, he’s in trouble

What else is he supposed to do when he's spamming TD's and is barely having success? He had no choice but to stand.

He was certainly off tonight. He fought his usualy style but he lacked that extra oomph he usually had when pursuing TDs against the cage.

Usually he would work enough to make his opponents tired and do a better job at controlling even if he was not getting TDs. Tonight he seemed to be getting tired more quickly and he disengaged without chain wrestling more readily than before.

Yan was good too but his defense was similar to the first fight, but there Merab kept pressing him. But now Merab backed off way more quickly and didn't have that cardio edge to tired him. This was most noticeable in the late stages when Yan looked to be the fresher one. Probs a bad weight cut imo.
