I remember back in Strikeforce they had a lot of trouble getting Lashley fights since he would often turn down opponents. There was a rumor that he had turned down 7 opponents before he finally agreed to fight Wes Sims.

Well with his first Bellator fight in the books I found myself wondering if this will continue to be the case. Lashley has a record of 11-2 but that is quickly going to fade if he starts fighting anyone remotely decent. I could see Bellator happily giving him the lowest of the low of their HW roster to build him up.

They don't wanna lose that wrassln demographic. So I'm sure they'll keep feeding him bloated nobodies.

Personally I'd give him Lavar next. Everybody knows Lavar on the mat is 'First Lesson Level', yet he poses a serious threat to Lashley on the feet. Seems a logical test, as he'll actually be in danger until he scores a takedown, unlike most of his previous opponents who pose little threat standing either.

Another no-name seems pointless as a lose to some of their aggressive no-names will kill Lashley, at least a loss to Lavar could be brushed off to some degree by Bellator.

he's a big enough name that people will tune in to see him fight, but not a big enough ego that people won't stand for him fighting bums... perfect signing

Well he ain't gettin any younger if he wants to make a run

to be fair he was NOT supposed to be on this card. He took a fight MUCH sooner than he wanted to as a favor to Coker

A rematch with James Thompson would make sense as well. Their first fight was fairly close and pretty entertaining. Its a winnable fight for Lashley, and if he did manage to pick up a W it would make his record look a little better since having a loss to Thompson on there definitely takes some cred away from him.

However I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign some nobody with a losing record to fight him.

True but its not like it was a short notice fight or anything. Lashley would have had plenty of time to prepare for a legit opponent.

Lashley is a can crusher who selects his own fights. everyone should call him out on it.

i like lash but that guy he fought sucks lol

Time to bring back Thiago Santos and Eric Prindle.

Both guys would probably beat Lashley tbh.

Honestly looking at Bellator's HW roster on their website I really don't see one guy who i think Lashley could beat.

Sam Caplan thought if Lashley lost that fight to Burns TNA would have gotten the title off him as soon as possible.

So that should probably tell you what Viacom/Bellator/Spike/TNA are thinking. IF they really feel Lashley losing is bad for not only Bellator but TNA then they are gonna do all they can to make sure he doesnt. Not fixing fights but right up to that which is giving him the best matches to keep him winning.

Also Lashley's fight was the peak of that show, the peak wasnt Mo, wasnt Pitbull or a title fight it was Lashley.

He def brought in the crossover TNA fan. Lashley/Kongo would be a nice main event on a show or co main event in terms of name power but it would be ridiculous for Bellators business cause Lashley would lose.

Spike don't care what TNA think. TNA are gone at the end of the year.

He can keep picking fights and have people sign in to see the wrestler fight. But until he steps up, he will never be taken particularly seriously. Anyway, against his last "bloated nobody," he looked pretty decent. His striking is getting better.
