Along with running, kicking pads/bags and good calcium and vitamin D intake

Jump rope is great for shin conditioning. Eventually whipping yourself in the shins won't hurt at all

I think running would be better because you get a harder impact. Run while chugging milk and hitting yourself in the shins with and hitting yourself with a rolling pin. You have to do them all at the same time to get the full effect.

just kidding, I just saw the part of your post where you said running.

it conditions your shins a little bit. For instance I rope every day, last saturday I ran a four mile race in a bad shoe's my shins still havent recoverd

not saying ropeing dosnt condition your shins but like the other guy said running is probably better

It depends.

If you mean: will jumping rope condition my shins by increasing the work capacity of the musculature, tendons, and ligaments in my legs and allow me to work more often and with more intensity?

Thn answer, then, is probably yes.

If you mean: will jumping rope condition my shins to taking repeated bone-on-bone strikes to them without suffering much structural damage or causing significant pain?

The answer, then, is probably no.

Thanks for the answers, yeah I meant the second one haha so besides kicking the heavybag and running I suppose, what works?

Running doesn't work either. You can manually condition (rolling pins, kicking bags, whatever) or you can smash in to other people. Either way will hurt and there is no easy way to get around it.

I thought putting your bones in stress with activities such as running helps make them more dense?

Breaking your shins is not a problem in MT, despite the 3 videos you've seen of it. What is a problem is that it fucking hurts to kick a knee or another shin. Only conditioning your brain and nerves is going to fix that.

Edit: I should also say pulling bad kicks is a good thing. But you get the idea.

Not running.

Sparring, bag work, pad work all work for what you want.

Sorry fluff, that's complete shit. You can't just wake up one day and start throwing full power kicks. Legit Nakmuays get put out with broken shins, and while they may not be spectaculor snaps you see on youtube its still a broken bone.
People are gonna say you need to use rolling pins, you need to kick bannana trees, and other bullshit.
Just kick a heavy bag a lot, there are not short cuts. By the time you get real power in your kicks, your shins will have caught up

You are literally retarded. I said there are no shortcuts you fucking idiot. Like you seriously have fetal alcohol syndrome. You're probably the stupidest person I've ever come across.

Sort of. Your stupidity is stressing me out. I'm like, every day you see something stupider on the internet and it blows my mind.

I'll be honist princess, saying that your not in danger of breaking your shin by kicking things isn't very bright. You need to build up bone density with years of heavy bag work and shin to shin contact. Rolling a pin or a glass up and down your leg will deaden the nerves, but that just means it will hurtless before it breaks.
Now, why don't you go down to the local pet shop and look at some kittens, might cheer you up abit

Pretty much this. I've had slight compound fractures on both shins before. One of my clients is a radiographer- she got mad that I didn't want to take time off training.

Well whatever. To the OP, the guys above me are doing the typical martial arts myth stuff. You do NOT need to "thicken up your bones" by kicking a heavy bag to prevent them from breaking and more than you can kill someone with your chi.

What you do need to do is not kick a check full force and to get your skin and nerves used to getting beat up. Flexing the right muscles at the right time also helps.

I did Muay Thai for almost 10 years and I never jumped rope.

It never helped me, so I didn't do it.

Kicking the tires and heavy bag is good enough.

Or if you're feeling crazy, go into the woods and kick the small trees. :)
