I was thinking, how come there hasn't been TKO's in the past by broken toes via foot stomps.

In theory, from the clinch position, can one generate enough force to break someone's toes on a consistent basis. I feel like if someone could drill to perfect this move, they would be unstoppable, especially if they are a wrestler and force clinches.

Usman did it no stop to Masvidal and didnt work, i guess the own foot padding doesnt help, or simply they wont quit on a broken toe, Jones almost ripped his own toe and didnt quit, that fight could had been stopped because of it tho, iirc, most likely wont happen.

The bones on top of the feet are pretty strong and impact is still slightly absorbed by the pad of the foot. Everything is there to make it happen, but it hasn't yet.

It really doesn’t hurt that much, it’s for points and to look active for the ref and judges

My friend fought a few pro MMA fights and in one of them he was foot stomped a ton.

He said he didn't feel a thing during the fight with all the adrenaline but his foot was sore for a day or two after

Granted he wasn't fighting a UFC caliber fighter so I'm sure they could be effective with the right person but I doubt it

Not by foot stomps because it wouldn’t break the toes, maybe if they kicked weird and it broke their foot toes and they couldn’t walk good... idk no fighter should quit because of that though.

Seems unlikely. If it was easy to stop someone with stomps it would have happened already. I would think it would be very difficult to accurately stomp someone in a stop that would snap a toe.

It could have happened if Jones vs. Sonnen went into round 2. Maybe not due to foot stomps, but because of the broken toe.

That's how Chael almost great Jon.

The broken toe would've gotten the fight stopped in between rounds.

I have been watching since 1993, and have seen many foot stomps, but never saw a guy quit because of them. They look bad, but most guys treat them as more of an annoyance than anything else.

Usman's stomps were just for show to keep the ref from breaking up the wall n stall. If you actually throw them with any kind of force you risk disrupting your balance/control when you're trying to hold someone against the cage

It could happen but the bones are small so it would be difficult to maim enough bones to make the foot mechanically broken. Unlike an arm or leg where your limb will stop working when broken small bones in the feet most of the time just hurt like hell.
