With 8 critically acclaimed movies under his belt, is it too early to list (not rank) among the greatest directors? I don't think so

By 1989, when Spielberg was 42, we knew that he would be a legend. Same for Kubrick, Scorsese, and Coppola. Fincher has impeccable filmmaking skills and a fantastic range. What do you think? Does he need more movies under his belt? Does he need more timeless classics to qualify (2001, ET, Godfather) ?

We know Zodiac and Fight Club are two of the greatest films in their respective decades as well.

He also wrote and directed the show ‘Mind Hunter’ on Netflix which was excellent for the time it was on.

He’s definitely one of the best current active directors.

B-Tier director too. The guys you're comparing him against are in another league.

Zodiac was one of the best films of the 2000s? I feel I missed a memo.

Did TS not get the response he hoped for in the Fight Club thread or something?

One of the greatest thrillers

When Judging greatness I also like to look at someone's worst work.

And Benjamin button was so poorly directed that it made me wonder if fincher was just a no talent hack that steals pieces from better directors.

I think he's in my top 10 in the cusp of top 5. So yeah he's an excellent director.

I still haven't watched zodiac it pops up on tubi every now and then

I would say so. He's definitely someone I pay attention to when he releases a new movie. He's right up there in that regard with Spielberg, Cameron, Tarantino, Nolan, Scorsese, and Villeneuve. Fincher absolutely belongs in there with them.

We need another Denzel Washington and Tarantino jerk off thread aswell.

It's like you guys never leave your house...

Villenueve is the worst of the lot IMO.

To my understanding he has an expensive way of directing which was partly the reason the show discontinued.

One of my favourite (damn serial purgatory!) series. Ever.

Social network is one of the best films in the last 25 years. Seven is one of the best serial killer films of all time.

The game with Michael Douglas is grossly underrated
